I was just surfing the net and by chance logged onto Immigration web site. To my surprise, next to my visa residence application - the date lodged is displayed.. (10-Apr-2007). I am so excited but a bit nervous as well.. could anybody tell me what's the next step or how would the processing be? I'm applying under Skilled Migrant.

I would imagine that the next step will be for a case officer to be assigned to you.

Timescales will vary dependant on where your application is lodged.

Have you got a job offer ? The time scales vary dependant upon this factor.

Good luck,

Julie

Okay, I'll be coming across as rather daft now, but how does one check the process online? Do we need a letter first from them to give me a password or something like that?

Thanks for any hints, and good luck with the process, Hesh (sorry to hijack your thread)!

where have you lodged your application ? from your name it seems to be India , if thats the case I assume it would be a long wait.

Julie : Have lodged my application in India. EOI with 135 points, Skilled migrant - IT professional working in IT security, IT audits, Information security etc, my in-laws are in NZ & they are willing to sponsor us. Wifey and I have been trying to get a job but most common replies are stating that the companies are preferring candidates present in NZ. Can you help with your experience/knowledge?

dharder : you can register yourself on Immigration website .. it's the same registration that is being used to file online EOI.

Checkout : Yes, I'm from India. It could be a long wait but considering the history of application, my EOI got selected on 28th Feb and within 2-3 days, I got an email for ITA (usual time 2-3 weeks). I'd sent my application in early April and the date lodged 10-Apr. So, it's really unpredictable. I'm fine with it taking time as long as it's successful.

You are luck friend, it took 8 months after EOI selection for me to get an ITA.My application has been lodged for almost a year and I am still awaiting a decision. The visa officers have changed frequently and frankly its been very frustrating and long wait for me.

Hi Hesh.

I'm sorry, but I know nothing about IT and unfortunately neither do I know anything about being sponsored by relatives already in NZ.

I do know that some forum members have sponsored their relatives to come to NZ and there are forum members that have been sponsored to get here too, or at least are in the process of sponsorship, so maybe they can help you with any queries you may have on that subject.

Presumably NZIS know about your possible sponsorship ??
