Hi all,

I need help we are not sure what to do or which direction to go :(
here is our position;

Me and the wife (plus our son) have been here now 2 years under varying visa's, visitor's visa, student visa & then the wife got a 12 month work visa as she is a level 3 hairdresser I got an open work permit through her, it took months for me to find a job I'm a truck driver class 4 I couldn't get a 2 year work permit as immigration says there is no shortage in Papakura for truck drivers. We talked to the immigration dept via their help line and they told us to apply for PR we put in an EIO only to be rejected as they don't recognize class4 as a qualification no do they recognize the wife's qualification they only gave us 75 points so how do we get PR ?? the wife gave her job up as we had to move closer to my job as it pays more she cant find work here in Pukekohe where we are living right now i work in Karaka on top of this our sons visa runs out in August he's 20 now and on a visitors visa and cant get it extended any more and we must get PR before then so he can be on our PR application form.
We are at our Witt's end what to do now how do we go about getting a PR?? can anyone help us please :uhoh

Gosh, what a situation.

My immediate thoughts were whether you could upgrade your truck driving skills to meet the NZ shortage requirements and, therefore, get more points?

There are a few people who I believe are in the industry that might be able to help you better in that respect.

How long do you have left to legally remain in NZ?

Best wishes

I hope you find what you are looking for. I completely agree with the advice about getting retrained on something that is more in demand there. Good luck

I think Halls Transport in Auckland are an accredited company, but I don't really know what that means in relation to your getting an extended work visa or how/if it will be of help to you.

Something to do with a Work to Residency Visa is ringing a bell with me, but I'm not sure about this either.

There are other truckers on here that could maybe answer some of your questions and I'm sure that this type of question has been asked before on this forum - have you done a forum search ?

Come on Kim39 - help me out here...........

Could this category apply?

Talent (Accredited Employers) Work Policy requirements (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/worktoresidence/caniworkinnz/accreditedemployersrequirements.htm)
