Hi
My OH sent his trade qualifications/ college qualifications/certificate/trade card, references, CV, to the ERWB - he received a letter back saying that he would be eligible for a provisional license.
Hope this helps

My OH is an Electrician ............if I can remember everything .
He had his qualifications checked by EWRB [lots of sending stuff back and too to Wellington and many a phone call ] .
He eventually got a letter saying he would be able to get his provisional licence .
We got WTR and moved here ,he found a job in his first week and worked his 12 weeks ,did his first aid course and the safety course online.
So after all this he got his Provisional licence.
Then he had to go to night school for about 12 weeks [he talked them into letting him study and sit both the A and the B at the same time ,he decided to just go for Service Technician as it was more of what he needs for his job and much cheaper than the full Electrician ].
Then he sat the two exams ,passed with flying colours and now has his Full Licence
Hope this helps ,send a PM if you need more information from him .

Thankyou v much folks, v much appreciated.
The ewrb have said i will get the license when i do the first aid course on arrival and submit a 'statutory declaration' but they did seem very vague on what was required but after two or three tries i am sure we will get there!!!
Thanks again !

Hey That is good news for you guys getting your licenses and so on.
I am also in the same boat. Just was not to sure what to do first.
If i should send my PAR of or just contact the electrical workers board and send my papers to them instead. You say they gave you guys a letter saying you can get your provisional license. Does that mean you did not have to submit a NZQA and all that stuff ? and with that letter you just apply for a visa ? or something like that ?
Cheers
Terrence
P.S. i am a electrical maintenance technician.

Hi Terrence. We have just finished the process from start to finish. You need to do NZQA and EWRB. I take it you are going down the skilled migrant category. If you need anything else please feel free to send a PM.
