Hi All,
My name is Matt I'm an IT systems administrator (Security and MS Exchange specialist) from the UK. I'm some way through the emigration process to NZ. I've currently had my EOI selected and I'm waiting on an ITA (fingers crossed).
All things going to plan we are hoping to go to Chch in October.
See you around on the forum.

Hi Matt - we're waiting for our ITA too. I think my son's an IT systems thingy too. He left Uni with a degree in Sums and PacMan and is now doing something with MS packages for a company in London. Have you got a job all lined up over in Chch?

ATM I don't have a job lined up in Chch. I'm planning on hunting in earnest 3 weeks before we go out in October.
It seems after Auckland and Welly IT folk go to Chch.
Funny enough I our EOI's at the same time as yourself. My EOI is currently being evaluated in London.
To my reckoning I have 130 points and 15 points in an area of absolute skill shortage. Another guy I know got repointed 2 days ago and dropped back in the pool. His EOI was selected on the same day as us.
I'm thinking I'll be evaluated any day now which is making me really nervous.
I'm checking my mail every 3 hours........

OMG. Hadn't thought of that happening. I'm waiting for NZQA and teachers reg to come through but judging by the posts on here it's going to be a long wait. As if we needed more stress in life. Just keep imagining deserted beaches and having the tickets in our hands at the airport.

I don't think NZQA are required to assess all qualifications. I have a degree from
a university on the approved list. AFAIK all they are likely to ask for is my transcript.....

As lockstock is a teacher she will need to go through nzqa. Also changes last year mean that at lot of other occupations need to have their qualifications assessed. this is having a knock on effect on the speed of processing at nzqa:(

you do need to get NZQA assessment of your degree. anyone claiming skills shortage bonus points does. however if its a standard IT based degree from a UK university on the list then it may not take them very long?
