Hi All,
I'm try to emigrate as a skilled migrant, and I suspect I'll need my degree assessed by NZQA.
How to I go about getting a full assessment? (as I'm sure it'll be required for the ITA).

Is it this form here for the full assessment? It's just that it says for the inland revenue on it which seems a bit wierd..

Hmmm, no I think you've got the wrong form.

The page we went to was

http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/for-international/qual-eval/applications.html

But then you open the application form a bit further down the page under the heading of Assessment of international qualifications: Guide and Application for Assessment of International Qualifications

I think what you've done is open the application form for Postgraduate Study assessment which I don't think is the right form.

Hope that helps

Big delays at NZQA at moment. If you need the docs quickly I would recommend paying the extra money for the fast track. It still takes time as they will contact your uni or any other establishments and you are then dependant on their promptness. Plus you cannot contact the uni yourself and hurry them up.

Thanks, both of you.

Luckily my Uni are 'pretty quick' they sent me my transcript promptly which I'll send with the form and payment. I'll also send them the contact details I used...

You can send your contact details, and it wont do any harm, but they will not use them. They need to be sure that the e mails / faxs / phone calls are going to the uni so they use their own contact details. There must be some unscrupulous people out there who, in the past, have got nzqa to contact them directly by misdirecting contacts for university to their own homes, and then sending ficticious details off. That is why you must not contact the unis while nzqa are also contacting them.

Hey Mat,

Do you really need NZQA assessment ? Please check NZIS 1080 - List of recognised qualifications.

I think there is a new rule - something about ITA's submitted after February 2007 - that they all need an NZQA assessment. Just a rumour I heard - any truth to it?

I got a degree from Brighton University which is on the list.
The specific course I studied is not on the list though.
If my university is there do I need my degree assessed by NZQA?

So, If my degree BA (Hons) in business and IT is not equivalent to a Bsc in IT Do I lose 5 points for the qualification in a recognised area of shortage bonus points, or do I lose a full 50 points on my degree?

Trigirl

you lose 5 points for qualification in area of skills shortage and you also lose however many points you have claimed for experience in the area of skills shortage (you can't claim experience without the relevant qualification)

you keep the 50 points for your degree though

although its on the london news site it doesn't just apply to london - it is relevant to all applications (the circular it refers to is addressed to all staff). maybe new delhi just decided not to put it on their news site? either way i'd strongly recommend you talk to them to confirm your understanding.
