We can't quite get our heads round this. We had decided to wait until we were absolutely sure we were going (post medicals, Visas granted etc) before we put the house on the market. This afternoon a lady called around (we vaguely knew her through the horse world) to see if we had room for her two horses because her house sale had just fallen through at the the last minute and she had lost her chance on the property over the other side of the valley. She had viewed our property and missed out on it when we bought it a couple of years ago. To cut a long story short (even I am nodding off here) we told her about our until now secret plans and she wants to buy when we are ready to sell because she doesn't want to miss out on it again. With her horses here in the meantime we'll be able to maybe even do a reccie to NZ and leave the animals in the care of someone responsible. :clap

Excellent! Yes, cut out the dreaded estate agents, and move whenever you're ready. Sounds good :)
We've had three people interested in our flat so far privately who've just heard that we are leaving, but we haven't actually decided whether we are selling it yet.
Good luck!

Sounds promising, and i'm a believer of things happen for a reason. So good luck with it.

Whats happening to you happened to us too - well, minus the horses !
Once our little blue stickers were firmly planted in our passports, we started to tell folks of our NZ plans.
Told a friend, who told a friend who came round to our house, had a look and a chat and 2 hours later it was sold !!
Got to agree with Kim - all things happen for a reason, so just go with it.
Good luck and I hope the rest goes as smoothly for you.

I agree with Kim too!
It will happen if it's meant to be.
We sold our house on the internet in the UK, again avoiding estate agency fees.
We put it on the market in August 2005, sold it early October and moved out 20th Dec 2005. Had to live with mum and dad until we left the UK on 23rd Jan 2006 but as I had left my job at Xmas it was great quality time with friends and family before the upset of actually leaving them all behind.

that's brilliant. Animals can be such a worry.
Hope it all goes smoothly for you.
