Yay - I have my NZQA assessment back.
Yesterday, DHL delivered a package to my house from the NZQA which contained their assessment of my degree. They assessed it at Level 7 (Bachelors Degree) which is what I wanted.
I sent off the form, together with a whole load of documentation (degree certificate, 4 certificates covering GCSE, A/S level & A Level, and letters from my last two employers confirming my dates since 1996).
I was a bit worried about my degree, as I didn’t have any course transcripts. I phoned my University (De Montfort – formerly Leicester Poly) and was told that due to the data protection act they no longer keep a detailed breakdown of results beyond 7 years. Also, my course never had transcripts as it was a linear degree. They agreed to send me a letter explaining this and confirming my degree award, which I sent off with the form.
Anyway, there was no need to worry. I sent off the package on Saturday 14th April and got it back yesterday (20 days). I paid the extra for the fast track service which I think was excellent.
Well done NZQA.
By the way, I didn’t receive any communication from them in between: I know some of you have received emails. Weird.

Congrats. I Think the fast track is a good idea, particularly with the backlog they have at the moment. I don't think we would have had any contact with them, other than the return of our documents, if we hadn't contacted them. We didn't get an email to tell us who our evaluator was.

Wow - that's encouraging. I sent mine off on fasttrack two days after you with similar content. Something to look forward to after bank holiday Monday's lie-in. (Can't go anywhere, no money left after forking out for NZQA, fast track, TC reg, EOI, police checks and the council tax bill!)
One step closer eh?

Yes, we did the FAST TRACK route and it was pretty quick too. Well, 2 months - but I consider that quick compared to how long some other people have been waiting for their assessments.

That's great news for you. Let's hope they are clearing the backlog rather than you just being very lucky :yes

I sent my NZQA off Feb 28. I emailed them last week but have heard nothing. I guess I'll call now, but I hate to bug them. They are probably waiting on some of my information, but it's frustrating just sitting here!!! Does anyone know if they verify all info or if they just verify certain info? I had three unis and three employers as part of my quals. I had trouble getting info out of two of the employers; I wonder if they are now dragging their feet with NZQA.
My worry is my ITA will come up for review and the NZQA will still be incomplete (I mailed that on Mar. 7).
So frustrating...I'm glad some of you are hearing back quickly, though. I just wish this process were more dependable somehow. Seems like luck of the draw, doesn't it?!!

I had my documents back today but only with a letter saying they were working on the application. Don't really know what to think but still in the 'no news is good news' frame of mind.

well, I got my documents back about a month ago...still nothing. I was pretty excited to get something from them, but after reading the letter with my docs, I realized it only meant a warm body had sorted my papers.
I emailed them last week, but no reply. I need to call them now...argh.

I e-mailed yesterday (no patience, me) because it said in the letter to contact my evaluator and they would keep me updated. I got an e-mail straight back saying there wasn't a problem just waiting for one bit of clarification. It felt good to have a named person to contact. I'd e-mail again CjChris, rather than start racking up phone bills.

Hey Chris, I don't want to sound dense if this has already been covered,:o but could you call the 2 employers and 3 schools to see if NZQA contacted them yet and if they've already given NZQA what they want? For all I know, this is probably against the rules or something, but I'm knowing bigtime right now how it feels when you're needing to do something to feel in control of this immigration monster, and I wanted to help!:D

Ana, this is def against the rules and it says so in the letter that they return with your docs. We phoned each week, as we get international phone calls free. It it possible to use one of the cheap international phone companies such as telediscount, all you do is put 0844 462 95 95 before the international number and the calls get charged at 2p per min. you do not have a contract.

Ana&Steve the letter expressly forbids you make contact because of confidentiality or something. If you do then you'll self destruct in 10 seconds. I think it's a power thing:laugh
