I've been looking at callwave, which supposedly offers free txt/sms sent anywhere in the world.

I've tried setting it up, which one step involves you entering your NZ mobile number, where it is supposed to txt you an activation number to enter in for account setup. Unfortunately, I'm unable to receive the activation number on my phone.

Has anybody else tried this? I'm on telecom - wondering if they block it.

By the way, if you try it out, I'd try entering in a disposable email address (one u rarely use, or just for signing up for such accounts), or you may end up with heaps of email spam.

Yep. tried it, and it worked for me. (i'm SUCH a sucker!:o ) i had to try it twice but eventually both verification texts came through. I'm on vodaphone, it may make the difference, although I dont really see how telecom could block it. I then texted (from computer to mobiles ) myself and my OH and both texts went through.

Thanks for the news. I eventually did get the verification txt more than an hour later, but after I tried sending some txts (to me and another #), no messages came through. Will let you know. Sounds like a bit of an unreliable service (or perhaps I didn't manage to setup my accont correctly).

Just wanted to give a quick update - my txts still haven't gone through. Oh well.
