I noticed in Gil's post mention of Grammar Schools. Do these operate in the same way as in the UK?



Most people would talk about the following schools in Auckland as excellent schools:
Macleans College (co-ed)
Auckland Grammar (boys)
Epsom Girls Grammar
Aukland Girls Grammar

In short, no!

There is not a test to enter Grammar schools over here, but the standard of education in Grammar schools is good. That considered, just because a school is "Grammar" it does not mean that it is superior to one that isn't .. confusing eh!

Have a look at this for a selection of good schools in Auckland, some are grammar, some not.
