It's been nearly 7 wks since I submitted my ITA. I have 185 pts with job offer: my case officer has been noted by some to be - not the easiest person to deal with....the letter I got said a decision would be made after 4-12weeks.
I am desperate to know how the application is going especially as we think our house sale is going ahead again: would you send an email or sit on your hands, folks?

I have been told that if there is a job offer you should get a work permit and go to NZ while they work on your PR. There is no guarantee the PR will be done in less than 3-6 months. A work permit will allow you to go ahead with your plans without putting your life on hold. Good luck

Give 'em a ring - well I would anyway.

Having said that, patience has never been a virtue of mine.

All I can say is that every time I ever needed to contact NZIS I did and I always got a quick and favourable response to my questions whether I my emailed or phoned.

How do they know your situation if you don't tell them ?

They are not ogres and although it does sometimes seem that they are the 'Gods' controlling your destiny they are human too.

Give 'em a call - you know you want to !!!!

Yup, I would, can't do any harm, you have the necessary points and meet the criteria, go for it.

Good luck

Well I emailed after a week, and rang after 2 weeks, and it seemed to speed things up - it only took 3 weeks altogether. When I phoned, I offered to put in a work permit application if things were going to take a while, and my CO (Chris Mckain) said no need, she would rush through my PR.

Ok - thanks for the advice guys. I shall be bloody bold and resolute and phone him:)
Houses btw: the buyers who said 2 weeks ago they didn't want to proceed, have again changed their minds. get this though - "can we complete by the end of May".
That'd be a "No, sorry...." however much I want to move quickly.
My shoulders are where my ears sit at the mo with stress.

Riddley,

Phone them, e mail them, then keep phoning them. As Sam B says, offer to put in a work permit request and see what they say.

On the house, go for it, unless you have other offers in the pipeline jump at every chance you get.

That's good Sam ..

I did the same, politely asked if maybe I should apply for a WP in order to get working quickly and got the reply .. "you are at liberty to do so if you wish", when what I really wanted was an indication of how much longer I might have to wait.

Anyway, go for it Riddley (fingers crossed)
