Hi all,
Someone told me recently that once PR is granted there is a time limit to actually move to NZ, (they said 3 months). We currently live in the UK but hope to make the move asap, but obviously the list of things to do is endless! We don't have PR yet(fingers crossed) but if it was granted does anyone know the time limit to make the move? I know I'm jumping the gun a bit but it would be helpful to know as much as possible in advance.

Thanks for any advice,

Well, I'm pretty sure you've got a year after PR is granted, and you can extend it by another 6 months if you hold off paying your migrant levy.

if you are granted PR you have one year from when your blue stickers are put in your passport to arrive in NZ. it will say this on your blue stickers. (after your PR has been approved you may delay having the blue stickers put in your passport by up to 6 months)

if you are granted PR because of a job offer then your blue stickers will also have a section 18 condition on them. once you arrive you have to work for 3 months with the employer that has give you that job offer and after the 3 months that condition will be lifted and you are free to work for anyone.

It's looking like we'll be given a 6 mth work to residence visa (fingers crossed). Does this start straightaway from the date of issue, or from entry to NZ?

bielby - you have three months from the date you get the letter saying you have been granted work to residence to actually apply for the work permit. then the work visa/permit.

then the work to residence visa/permit will be granted for nine months (a recent change to help people have enough time to find a job)
