The agent we bought the land from has just sent us a handwritten card congratulating us on purchasing "our little piece of paradise" with a mitre 10 token inside.

:cheers

Is this super-nice or super-good business sense?

Super good business sense :D

Part of the real estate training says to look after buyers and purchasers, you'll never know if they'll recommend you on to potential clients or need your services in the future.

It is great though, we were given a lovely hamper from the community store when we moved in to Featherston.

Enjoy spending your gift voucher :cheers

If your agent is a good one I understand they do get you something for your new house. When we brought our home our agent brought a huge hamper basket round with allsorts in including wine with glasses :D (reminded me of something you would have brought from M & S) other people we know who have brought have had nothing :( . Enjoy your vouchers thats such a good idea.

We got a bottle of champagne and a giant umbrella, since then they've also sent us a book voucher and a coffee voucher to celebrate our first year in the house.

Our mortgage broker gave us $25 Living & Giving voucher.

Cheers

We got a plate and a box of cheap chocs - so I haven't reccomended ours - he was bordering on useless and we and the seller were fed up with him - He had sold this house each time it went on the market - used old photos on the layout and had the wrong price on the website (had it up for $200,000! we were dead peeved hence we got all the chattles/animals free)

I guess when comparing yours to say the Baskets of fruit/wine and glasses its not that great, but its :nice1 more than the UK agents do for you isnt it so I was supprised when we got him on the doorstep with the gifts (I was uncomfortable to be honest as I didn't know this is a standard practice for agents - and wondered what he was after!:laugh )

enjoy your piece of land

I think $30 mitre 10 vouchers a better haul than glasses or chocs, tbh Kat ;)

Definately seems to be the norm here for car salesmen as well, we bought our car from Toyota and got gift vouchers

$100 for food and drink at a local resturant

15% off next service

15% off accessories

Can't be bad!!!

We went unconditional yesterday on our new house.HURRAY!!!

Oh good news Karen!

All the estate agents we have dealt with so far have been really lovely and seem to work very hard, often turning up on Sundays to show us land or whatever. I'm a sucker for friendly people and gifts and stuff.

It really amazes me how friendly and obliging everyone is here.As for the gifts.

A free holiday for 2 to anywhere in Australasia from the builders in 4 or 5 star hotels.
2 bottles of very expensive wine from the builders agent.

A hamper from the toyota garage

Solid hardwood headboards from the agents who sold us the apartment.

And we have only been here 5 weeks

Kindest regards

Dave and Caroline
