It's on this Saturday in Europe and it would so amuse me watch (always does)....anyone know if it will be on in NZ anytime? My googling didn't have much luck, but I'm not great at searching...
Thanks in advance :nice1

Oh Moorf, you spoil-sport :p
I always hated it but one year a friend of mine encouraged me to watch it and have a few beers and we had quite a laugh!

I know people who every year have a eurovision party with food and drink from different european countries and drinking games on the nul points. I have thankfully never been invited, or maybe I was once but made a excuse like I was washing my hair.

The best thing about Eurovision are Terry Wogan's witty comments - that man totally cracks me up with his comments.
Apart from that it is laughable tat.

But that's the point about Eurovision surely? It's bizarre in the extreme.
Anyway, back on topic, does anyone actually know if it's going to be aired here?

Well if you find out, I shall defo watch it, I love it. And we're in with a real chance this year apparently...

A real chance of getting into double figures this year I think.
No chance of winning unless each song was judged on its merits on not on past relationships between the countries, look out for a winer from the baltic states, possibly Estonia

There's more silicon than song with our entry!!!!!
Of the shame - what happened to Cool Britannia???

Apparently the others are even worse - Terry Wogan thinks we actually have a chance this year! Although I have a feeling he says that every year...
We haven't a hope - the other nations hate us!!

Sadly, I really, really like the UK song this year! Much better than overgrown schoolboy rapping of last year.
OH is rooting for Switzerland and their vampires.
No idea if it's on NZ schedules but the semi-finals are on freeview tonight (BBC 3 or 4) so I'm getting into Eurovismood early. :cheers

for all you euro addicts, all the low down on this years contest.
Deffo a bit of silicon, the camp angle too, and a sickly boom boom boom type euro song - should do well :laugh
No plans on the tv networks to show it here but I suspect there will be a video stream on the web.

:cheers Wait! Next best thing! It's on Radio 2 so we can listen live on the internet or for 7 days after! Commentary by Ken Bruce though instead of Terry - ah well, can't have it all.....:raebanana

Well, Russia has just been on (15th) and I'm quite taken with their song. Or was it the fact that it was sung by 3 stunning young women?
I aggree with Terry though, some of the songs are dire - and these are the ones that made it through the semi-finals.

Unfortunately the Swiss vampires failed to get into the finals. Missed the russians though as I had given up by then and come on here.

Oh my goodness. Ukraine is now on. You couldn't make it up. Al wrapped up in tinfoil, stars stuck on their heads, swinging their arms around.
Pity that you missed the Russkies though Specky!

I take all I have said about eurovision back. Just watching the Ukraine entry, can see why they are the favourites, what a laugh. No time for the UK

OK - just discovered the Red interactive button, now we're getting the translations of the somgs. Bulgaria is on and I'm killing myself laughing! For those back in NZ we have lyrics such as -
"See that girl there, eeeeeeeeeee!"
"Tara-du da-day, dara du-day, dara dara" and that's the translation!

Thought we'd be a nil pointer for a while there - good old Malta - can't buy loyalty like that these days.

I'm delighted to say we missed it here in the UK and I look forward to missing it next year if we're in NZ by then :clap . But I will be listening to Terry on Monday for an in-depth analysis of the quality and content.:D

I was skyping my best friend this morning and it was on in the background, it was "nul points" at the time I said goodbye. Good old Malta, I think they're the only country left in Europe that don't completely despise us!!

Don't forget Ireland gave them 7 points, but as they said, they were probably voting on the song, not politically....

Unfortunately no pictures of the Russian Babes.
I do think that it is time that political voting was stopped. The best was to do this would be to not announce the country that performed the song.
Having said that the Irish song would still be last, it was awful, and we could pretend that we weren't the most despised country in Europe.
