As the title says, how long does it take to gain PR through the sponsor of a spouse?
Thanks!

It's been done as short as seven weeks - have a search for Nettie's posts as she's just arrive in NZ after he application went into London in early Feb. It depends on how straightforward the application is.

Mine took just 2 days short of two months - but then I am already in New Zealand, which might explain it being quicker ?
I think as a rule, Partner Sponsorship does seem to go through quicker than most others so fingers crossed hey ?!

We applied under partnershi and although I no longer have the timings in my signature, I think it took literally a couple of weeks before case officer phoned, introduced herself and let me know informally that there shouldn't be any problem. Two weeks later the deed was done.

Just make sure you fill in the forms (the form filling and info gathering took the longest....took me about 2 months!) absolutely correctly and send all documents and paperwork etc needed and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised :)

Can't remember now if you've already sent it (and connection too slow to go back and check, lol) but if you're right at the begining, make sure you send off for the police check thing (I can't even remember what it's called!) and book your medical as they both slow things down terribly. Good luck :)

Two months in NZ for me as well, although they quoted nine

Seems like 2 months-ish timeline is the norm :D Mine came through in 7 weeks from application to stamps in passport (applied through the London branch).

Good luck,

My partner applied for PR - Family Sponsorship in June last year in Wellington, and received PR in Principle last week. Her PR process should be complete by the end of this month.

SMC PR applications take priority over family sponsored applications, so this was the main reason given part of the delay.

During the first half of last year Family sponsored PR typically took 5-8 month, so the time required can vary a lot.
