Wondering about Correspondence School for our 3 kids; anyone have any experience of it? Good points, bad? We're aware of the problems of mixing (or not) socially but what else? We've had a short stint of it with our 11 year old but would it work with 3 kids? We're only thinking of it in the short term as it's significantly cheaper that paying international fees for kids to attend school, while I study on student visa.

I home schooled our two in the UK and that worked. they are both grown up now but none of us regret doing it.

You could use correspondence school if you feel you need the structure but there is nothing to stop you finding out about home schooling here in NZ and doing it yourselves. The social side shouldn't be an issue, theres plenty of groups like scouts, swimming clubs, any sports or interest based group where they can meet others. Be warned though its hard being cooped up with your kids 24/7 and you have to make sure that they as well as you get their own space. and getting them to study sometimes reqires a lot of effort to get them to do it and to make it interesting.

100% agree with everything Veronica said. If you don't feel confident then correspondance school can help to start with but here's a good home education link in NZ

http://www.home.school.nz/

From there you should be able to track down other families locally doing it, find out about the legal side and curriculum resources, if that's how you choose to do it.

I home educated for 18 months and I second Veronica in that the socialising, the curriculum etc are all doable, the 24/7 is the bit that requires most consideration! Good luck, hth :)
