OK, been here a week so thought it was about time to do an update on progress (now the motel has got internet sorted).

Loads done already, in no particular order and no great detail, here's where we are at.

Bank accounts sorted for us and the kids (using ASB they seem very good)
Car sorted bought a Nissan Tino (which the car people let us drive away with only a small deposit as our money had not come through).
Found a rental property in Rototuna, just outside Hamilton. It's a brand new 3 bed 2 storey house, very big and on a community development which has a gym, swimming pool, tennis courts, 15 seat cinema, snooker room and a conference room which can be booked for birthday parties - all included in the rent. We move in next weekend.
Kids primary school sorted. They start at Rototuna Primary on Monday.
Furniture etc. bought and ordered lots of electrical appliances (that we are not shipping) and ordered beds for the boys ready for delivery to the new house.
Mobile phones and stuff all sorted (word of warning - make sure you get your mobile phone unlocked before you leave, if bringing from UK. Otherwise can take a while).

It's worth noting that you can always bargain in shops, particularly if you're paying cash and have a few items to buy. We got about 10% off all our electrical goods as we bought them all from the same place and paid cash.

So far the people are living up to their friendliness reputation. Everyone has been very helpful and offered lots of advice, customer service in shops is a million times better than anything we ever got in the UK.

That's it for now, off for a beer with the motel owners.:cheers

:clap Sounds like a busy week, put your feet up, have a beer or two and chill.

Complex sounds great although I don't like the sound of a gym, far too healthy for me.

Looking forward to the next installment.

I can't tell you how pleased I am to read that you're settling in nicely and have found a great area where you want to live. All the best for the rest, and keep us up to day with how you're doing.

Really I am, but getting very disillusioned with the jumping through hoops that we are still having to do. This emigration process seems to bring a new challenge each and every day. Show me the light at the end of what seems a very dark tunnel. Don't worry I will be fine, just reaching for the rescue remedy and wine :wah
Reading how happy you all are keeps us going :clap
