hi All

Just wanted to mention that the small fully furnished holiday flat where I'm staying will be available soon. It's perfect for one or two persons, about 10 minutes from CBD, 5 minutes from Petone, has dial up Internet access included in the rental fee, full kitchen, all linens supplied. It's a well-used but comfortable place, good value (ask about longterm discounts). Not the place for people with kids though -- one bedroom only, plus they'd be cramped inside and there's no dedicated yard to speak of. The landlords are very nice people.

Cool, we've been looking for somewhere to stay for 4 nights, starting May 26th :-) Think they'd be open to such a short term stay? Does it have washer/dryer? How's the heating? Were you glad you picked that place? :D

hi Juniper, absolutely you could stay for four nights. Their minimum is two nights, I think. Heating is fine -- there is a small electric heater for the bedroom and a brand-new larger heater for the main living area, both thermostat-controlled and you can move them around as it suits you. I leave them off during the day of course but turn them on when I get home. The Little Frog unit is small enough that it heats up very quickly. I've found this place just fine to stay in -- my first rental was for ten days when I arrived in Welly and then I came back a month later for a 4-week stay. It has everything I needed plus free Internet access, which is very unusual in a furnished rental. The structure itself is not new, and the furniture is gently worn, but there's a pretty big TV and DVD player, new microwave, full-size fridge, plenty of pots and pans and utensils, new & clean bed/bath linens, etc. I would definitely stay here again. The only thing I should mention is that you'd need a car to stay here -- it's just a little too far to walk to the train station in my opinion, and walking back is uphill all the way :) Not fun after working all day. By PM I'll send you the landlord's contact info --

Sarah

Oh, and they do have a washer but no dryer, but there's a clothes rack for drying things on the deck. That worked okay for me although a dryer would have been nice. There's an iron and ironing board which I used quite a bit.

Another nice feature is the landline phone which was free for all local calls. For long-distance I used a phone card which was .07/minute to the U.S.

It's been nice to sit on the deck in the mornings, having tea and listening to the birds. I'm not sure what the tin-roofed shed used to be, maybe a house for chooks? I found it picturesque . .

Based on your reviews, Sarah, I checked this place out and what do you know -
I'll be renting it for a few weeks when I arrive in Wellington. :)

Will stay here until I can find a more permanent place. So far have been very impressed with making arrangements with the landlords. Always a good sign! :nice1

Good deal, SLW -- hope you enjoy Korokoro as much as I did. And yes, I agree that a good vibe about landlords makes all the difference. Moira and Alex are great . . .
