Hi Everyone
I don't know if i'm mad or not but I can't believe i'm selling my house and booking a shipping company and still don't have any visa. To let you understand both myself and my husband have a job. I'm the main applicant,OH got his job in jan and I just got mine on Monday this week. Our ITA has been in since December. We have to be out our house in 4 weeks so we have no choice now but to start to book things because we are running out of time. They wont look at our case until the written job offer comes through from NZ. That will take at least a week, now i'm down to three weeks brfore i'm out my house. We wanted to leave for NZ as soon as possible after the house sale to give us as much time as possible at the other end. To start my new job on 16 July. Is there anyone else like me out there. My consultant says there is plenty of time but I'm having a nervous breakdown.
Thanks

Karen

Hi

you could always apply for a tempoary visa to get you there in time, it will take the pressure off. We did this it only took two days to process and as long as one of you have a written job offer both of you can apply.

good luck

Although your job offer does need to be in writing .. it can be emailed or faxed over saving you several days.

Can I suggest that you politely ask your employer to fax/email it and then ... and this is the important bit .. follow it up to make sure NZ immigration have received it!

If at all possible (and you have a case officer appointed) get it sent by email as faxes can still take a few days to be allocated to the right person (at least that is what I was advised).

Don't worry .. as Jo has said, you can always apply for a temporary visa if you're worried. Who is the consultant you mention? And more importantly, are you booking return tickets or singles?

Hi

You don't have to apply for a WTR visa. You can apply for a temporary one, we got a nine month visa and this allowed up to only book one way flights.

Once you get the paperwork for your offer, everything should move fairly quickly. (I agree though, it's definitely a good idea to let your employer know how crucial the contract and job description are!) Our PR only took about 3/4 weeks from the time they received ALL the appropriate paperwork. We came on a work visa first though and that only took about a week to issue in London!! We cut things fine as well - our house sale completed on the day we flew from the UK!!

Good luck!
