Has anybody who has been watching the currency market closely noticed any daily trends?
By this I wondered if most changes tended to take place once the UK share markets opened?
Or whether there are times when the currency rate doesn't fluctuate so much?
Cheers

The time of the changes really depend on what part of the world the influencing market data comes from i.e. NZ, Japan, America, UK etc.
For historical information & trends, go to: -
http://www.hifx.co.uk/marketwatch/currency_charts/historical_data.aspx
Change 'Instrument' to GBPNZD & change the 'Time Scale' to anything between 1 minute & monthly.

Don't even go there............
The whole exchange rate thing will slowly drive you insane - I know this 'cos the little men in their white coats are coming for me soon.........:wah
In the space of 6 short months the rate has fluctuated by about 20c.
At one point it was at $2.89 to the £1 and it is currently at $2.68 to the £1.
When you start to calculate how much you have lost, cos you should have moved it and didn't or worse still you did move it and shouldn't, well that's when you realise why you're glad you're in New Zealand and own a corkscrew - thank God for NZ wine is all I can say !!!!!!!
The general consensus seems to be that the rate could go up or then again, it could come down - yeah OK !
Do what you need to do with your money, but once you get it here don't look at the exchange rate ever again !!!!
Not much help I know, in fact no help at all, but I just wanted you to know that you're not alone in your musings.
:raebanana OORHAB !!!

Julie - I spend my life at the moment staring at the exchange rate, God knows why. I've got to bring over $450,000 as soon as we complete on our UK house sale, regardless of what the exchange rate is at the time, as we need to complete on our house purchase here. But that doesn't stop me checking every day..... If only we'd completed in early Feb!!! Where's that wine gone....

Good luck Sam !!
But take solace in the knowledge that we missed the $3.06 to the £ last year and have another drink.
Hic.........

Thanks for the link Diforsyth, I've also found another one:
http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/fds/hi/business/market_data/currency/11/16/one_month.stm
This should take you to the BBC site $NZ/£ - one month, then set it to intraday.
Its OK Sam & Julie from my research consisting of one day, I've confirmed it hits a low at about 12.00 GMT and peaks at 3pm GMT - giving a difference between 2.69 and 2.7.
Now we know the secret of never exchanging at lunchtime we're going to be rich I tell you .... RICH! :p
