Hi Karen,
we got ours bout a month before, 1 of the easy jobs! download the forms from work & income website, its 1 form for each family member, kids have their own form too. Cant recall off hand but adults and kids forms have slightly diff numbers somethin like 95 for adults 96 kids. U can use ur UK address's if u dont have NZ ones thats what we did.
Any probs give me a shout
Amanda :)

Yes, we did too and it only took about 2 weeks to get them.
Don't forget, if you have kiddies, get theirs too.

I'm confused about the tax exemption do you say yes or no. I'm selling my house so wont have anything let in UK. and when it says print you nz address did you just put in your uk one
Thanks

just put your uk address.
for the tax exemption it really doesn't matter. you are automatically entitled to it when you arrive anyway but the form is intended for people who have already arrived so is confusing. if you know your arrival date put yes and the date. if you dont then put no.

I can't remember about the tax, but we put our UK address. If deadlines are close make sure you've got a mail redirection in place and that way your number will reach you eventually!
I was organised enough to get my IRD number done while in the UK but then stupid enough to pack it in the container. So I phoned the IRD when we arrived in NZ and after a few security questions they gave it me over the phone. So once its been processed you can ring up and get it even if you haven't received the confirmation letter.
Cheers

Oh yes...it's quite easy to get b4 you come, and it's quite handy to have when u arrive here in NZ.

Not only did we get our IRD numbers whilst still in the UK, but Trigirl actually got sent two. Most confusing...
(A quick phone call to NZ straightened it out though)
