Hi everyone,
It's been a couple of weeks since I have been in touch, mainly because we finally sold our house and made the move into a rented apartment - BT took ages to connect us hence the gap in communication!
That you could say was the good news! A lovely couple bought our home of 11 years, and paid the full asking price.
Although I cannot say the move was stress free - is it ever? We have managed to settle in ok (dog too!)
Deposited the sale money into the bank, which is intended for our BIG MOVE to NZ Sept07.......so far so good.
Alan returned from his reccie in NZ with a job offer, and we were all set to submit the EOI when we received an email from our Emmigration Consultants to say that the company that he had an interview with had "reviewed their financial position, and had decided to withdraw their offer of employment"!!!!!!!!!!
Gobsmacked wasn't the word for it....stunned more like it!
So you can see why we are more than a little dejected.
Having said all that, we are more determined than ever to come to NZ - the job offer was the icing on the cake so to speak. Think we will just come without a job now and look once we get there.
Sorry this isn't the happiest of threads today, but I guess it's part and parcel of the process warts and all.
I suppose "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger" as the saying goes.
Kind regards
LesleyS:)

Ups and downs happen to us all Lesley but just try to concentrate on the ups. Bad news about the job offer but on the positive side, your house is sold so at least you have the money sitting there for you and you won't have to sit around for months trying to sell it. Lots of people go out and find work once they're there, you won't be alone in doing it and if you want something badly enough just go for it!

If you get a job offer once, you can get one again - and at least it proves to NZIS that you're employable.
Hope something comes up to give you a balance of good news again.

Good news about the house! Not so good about the job :no Good Luck and remember that sometimes things happen for a reason a better offer of employement could be waiting :)

Lesley - sorry to hear about the job offer - hope it wasn't the sticking point for you to be able to apply?!
Well done on the house sale though - a big weight off the shoulders I'm sure.
Get those bags packed and just get over here -everything will fall into lace, another job will be out there waiting. Why continue living in Limbo land out there in grotty old Huddersfield???!!!:p
Seriously - we said after our reccie trip we would have just packed up and come over if the job offer hadn't been siccessful - Kev knew once he'd been that finding work wouldn't be ard - the hardest thing might be making the decision where you are going to be based - with no job offer New Zealand is your oyster and that for some, can make it a easier, for others harder - too much choice!
Anyway good luck with the rest of your plans!

Guys
Thanks for your kindness and support - It's just a setback, but it does seem magnified when the impending move occupies your thoughts day in day out 24/7.
Marcia: Don't worry, we're still outa here job or no job, it's part of the dream, and we have no intentions of letting a small setback put us off our goal.
It's just a question of going back to the drawing board isn't it?
Lisa: You're right, things do happen for a reason, I'm more determined to stay positive now - thank you
regards

Attagirl!
We recently met Pinkpiggy at a NW meet - she and her family were off to Hamilton: no job etc - and at first I thought WHAT!? Then I thought Wow - how liberating must that feel? Good luck - things usually happen for a reason.

You're so right....
It's just stepping out of our 9-5 UK comfort zone, which is one of the major reasons for making the move - to experience life differently, and face some new challenges!!!

All part of the rolercoaster. Congrats on the house sale and I hope that things improve on the job front soon. did OH just have one interview? is there anything else in the pipeline?

Yes OH had just the one interview, well two if you count one in person and one by phone! Both went exceptionally well, and an offer was made on both occasions verbally.
It was only when we started questioning how long they were taking to up with a written offer, did they come back to us sheepishly to admit they had miscalculated their projected forecast for taking on new employees......
Nothing in the pipeline, but we are in touch with someone in Tauranga who is looking out for us.
Thanks for taking the time to "care" tho one and all x x:yes
