I can't submit my EOI without a job offer but most employers will only hold a job open for about 3-6 months. How long from submitting my EOI with job offer is it likely to take before I get PR? This will give me a rough idea of when to begin applying for a job.:)

It took about 2 months for us from receiving ITA to PR (with job offer - most of that was waiting for the medical and police checks to return).

If you can get the police check and medicals completed as soon as it is realistically possible (just remember the time frames that they expire in). As it took a month to get a medical appointment and 6wks for the police check to be returned. I know this sounds checky and I'm sure some people would hate me for this, but If I had to do it again I would have booked my medical appointment before I was offered the job (when I went for the interview) and if I did get it I'd have cancelled and rebooked for a later time slot until I had a job offer!

Throughout the process (EOI onwards) we were told 1-3mths, we had no idea whether the 1-3mths was for the entire process (EOI-PR) or just for each section (EOI-ITA 1-3mth then ITA-PR 1-3mths). This made it REALLY frustrating as no-one would give us a staight answer.

Once we had our medicals & police checks, I took our application to NZ house and a week later i rang our case worker for a progress update and she confirmed that she had just approved PR and the blue stickers would take 2 weeks... 2wks later there was the delievery of the passports with lovely blue stickers.

If you have a job offer then the process is speeded up considerably for you! There have been many posts showing that people have waited 6mths +, unsure of their with/without job offer status, but I'm sure they will tell you.

Good luck in finding a job.

It was about 6 weeks from submitting EOI to getting PR for me, with a job on the long term skills shortage list and a letter from my employer saying they were desperate. And I was V organised with paperwork and medicals, but aren't we all!

yes - things speed up dramatically when have job offer 2/3 months assuming you have all paperwork ready to submit with ITA. always speak to case officer if have job offer and give them your start date - this will help them to prioritise applications

As has been said before, each case is different, having a job offer will speed things up but the key is to be organised and patient.
