Thrilled, after just 3 interviews, have been lucky to secure a job at Hawkes Bay Hospital as Clerical Officer.

Really happy, as the 2 other interviews were bit odd, didnt understand my accent (welsh) and were strange anyway.

Great news as only been in NZ 5 weeks and all going so well!!

Not that good .....
Dad in law been back in Hospital now for past 3 weeks with his heart problem.
They both cant still accept that we are happy over here, every phone call to my mum in law ends in tears, even before she had the added pressure of dad in law being in hospital. They still think we are selfish ...... 'why do we have to be 1000's miles away, couldnt we have moved to England ....' why have we taken their only grandson away from them ..... its getting to the point we dont want to phone home.
Apart from that, my family have accepted we are happy and back us 100% as well as sis in law ..
We have spoken about our desire to buy a house and apply for residency, and had 'dont rush into things, you still might come home' - we have said no we arent we are happy - still no acceptance, still wont think about coming out here when he is better ...
Sorry to bore you!!

Hi Sharon. Congratulations on getting the job, I'm so pleased for you. I will buy you a coffee to celebrate next time I'm in Hastings! Sorry to hear things are no better with the in laws but it's still early days. Have you moved into your rental yet?

Thanks, will hold you to it (joke!)

Yes, we have moved into the rental, on 29th April. Its lovely but it not ours if you get my drift ..... Its in the grounds of a B and B, and although the couple are nice, we feel like we are being watched!! like being back living at home ...

Went to see about a mortgage, told we can get one even though not had PR yet, but cant get 100% as cant put any family living in NZ as guarantors - gutted!! as didnt want to start digging into our savings, as as you know we came over with just our 6 cases and have 11 boxes coming (when they ever do.... thats another story), so have to buy all new furniture on top of buying a house.

So, my wages will be going towards a deposit should i say. We really had hoped that when we move out of here late september, it would have been into our own house, to at least feel more settled! but not meant to be unless my numbers come up in the UK on the lottery ... heres hoping!!

Regards

Sharon
