I'm seriously considering have hair extensions done prior to moving to Auckland in early August - its a reward to myself for having lost over 5 stone in weight with hopefully more lost by the time we fly out!

Just wondering how easy it would be to get them maintained and/or removed once living in Auckland?

There is a place in Parnell that specialises in hair extensions, but I can't think of the name of it. My old neighbour used to have hers done there, and they looked ok.
I also think that some of the Servilles salons offer an extension service, but you'd have to contact them to find out which ones. (Just google Servilles Auckland for the phone numbers or email address.)

Sorry I can't help with the extensions but a word of warning about price. I used to get my hair chemically straightened in the UK, (used a small local hairdresser but good quality product) and was about £85/ £90. Asked in a hairdressers here about having the same thing done, (drat that damp Auckland weather) but was quoted between $900 and $1200 depending on how long my hair was:exit

So if anyone in the Auckland area knows a good hairdresser who doesn't want a fortune for hair straightening PM me.

Have you tried one of the Asian hairdressers in the CBD? A friend had hers done for about $200. (Her hair is pretty long and I think they made up the price according to length.) It was the place between the theatre and the cinema if that helps.

I had mine done in Thailand a few years ago, but now I just leave it wavy and put it up.

Looks like it will be possible if a tad expensive so I might just go ahead. Thanks for the tip about Sevilles I'll make a note of their website.

Cheers,
