I received a job offer for an 18 month term :clap . The job is actually permanent, the offer is just written as a fixed-term job to allow me to apply for a work permit quickly. Once I am working in NZ I will apply for residency.

My question is in regards to my wife's work permit/visa. Other posters have stated that once their OH had a job offer and work permit, they simply had to prove their relationship and the spouse was then granted an "open" permit. I can't find the details and procedures for applying to this permit. For example, I need chest x-rays for my work permit. Does my OH also need this for the "open" permit? Can someone point me to the details of this program?

The form you need is the same one you complete but tick family, you can download it from this link: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/worktemporarily/howdoiapply/generalwork/

Your OH will apply for an 18 month permit too and will also need x-ray. You will need to submit proof of relationship, marriage cert, bills in joint names that type of time.

You can send both applications off together.
