For those of you with cravings, Pak n shove have started selling british food, I have just come home with Jaffa Cakes and some Tunnocks Caramel Wafers (oh and a Cadbury Fudge!) :o none of its for me :no .
They had mainly biccies and sauces, and from a brief look the prices were no higher than the likes of Bramptins and may have even been cheaper. Walkers crisps were spotted, as was Bisto, and a limited range of
Robinsons.
At the moment, its all in the aisle with the Olive oil.....
I had heard rumours that this was the case, but felt it my duty to go check it out myself..... :D

I'm glad to hear that they're selling Robinsons. I usually buy it from Bramptins in Browns Bay but it's gone up recently from $5 to $8.20 - obviously too many people are buying it!!

Just got back from Pak and Save...........it was sooooooooo exciting :raebanana
We bought Robinsons Orange Squash 1L $4.79
Batchelors Mushy peas $1.99 [cheaper than foodtown]
Bisto Gravy granules $4.89
Polo mints $1.26
Jaffa Cakes $4.69
Hartley Strawberry Jam $5.95
They had lots of Heinz soups and beans ,all kind of Tea bags ,cereals like ready brek and shredded wheat.Walkers crisps ,sweets and Chocolate bars.
Pot Noodles too !!!!
We were talking the guy there and he said stuff has flown off the shelf ,expecting another delivery soon.
We saw Haribo sweets high up on a shelf ,he got them down but they were Pontefract ones ,so he got me his list and showed me what he could order ,so he will order Gold bears and fun mix next.
So I guess if you really want something ,ask and they might be able to get it for you.

Glad you enjoyed it! Its actually quite a nice store to do the general grocery shopping in.
I just noticed on the back of my bisto chip shop curry sauce, a little "imported by" sticker from these guys http://www.theenglishcornershop.co.nz/, checked the other stuff, and they had it on too, so I would guess whatever that shop sells, Pak n Save can get.

Totally and utterly. We have soup, squash, t-bags, chocolate, sweets and biscuits here already that are in the western style. I'm utterly lost why you'd pay more for and seek out familiar brands when there are so many others identical but cheaper!

The English Corner Shop is down in Onehunga. Nice guys running it - always time to have a chat with you.
My wife has skin allergies and always struggled to find NZ washing powder that did not cause iritation (tried them ALL believe me :) ) so they bring in Bold for us specifically - always willing to bring in anything you want or need!

But NZ crisps don't compare to Walker's ones .. and Bisto Gravy Granules don't exist here.
So do you think the English Corner Shop is supplying Pak N Save then? I'd be pleased if they were 'cos the only downside to this stuff being available in the supermarket is that the 'little' importer would lose the business.

Made a special trip to Pak'n'Save in Northlands, Christchurch - but nothing to report there in the way of Jaffa cakes, Walkers or anything else like that!
(Although there was an interesting selection of german foods in a small corner)
Maybe its just selected stores ?

anyone been to any in Welly region yet?? I only want some gravy granual well maybe some cheese and onion walkers too.
I bought 4 jars of Helmans when I last saw them and 8 tins of UK Heinz beans in Woolworths Johnsonville. Iam alwasy frightened if they do not sell enough they will not import them again.
You would be surprised in Cyprus we have Icelands frozen food in all the supermarkets and Tesco own brand stuff too. Made you feel right at home.
Has anyone seen premade Crispy duck anywhere with pancakes near Welly?

Also, according to this months Consumer magazine, Pak 'n' Save is the cheapest of the major supermarkets...

i'm with you lupin. why on earth seek out ridiculously expensive UK brands in NZ when this place makes some of the nicest food on earth (still heavily influenced by my day at the wellington food show yesterday :))

Hey Sal,
We noticed that on Saturday when we were shopping. One of the assistants must have heard us talking because he came up to us and told us they were now selling UK brands. :laugh
They also have sections for other countries too. Which I think was pretty good. I will have a good luck the next time I am there.

There's a chocolate shop on Hurstmere Road in Takapuna that sells Galaxy, Tunnocks, Irn-Bru and a few other bits and pieces like that. Of course the danger is in not walking out with several kilos of Belgian chocolates :exit

Hmm - we spotted draught Boddies at the Cock'n'Bull in Ellerslie at the weekend! Never sure about beer traveling around the world in barrels. But I will try it next time we're in there - just to be sure :)
