I grew up in a 'limescale free' area but now live with it daily. Boy, it can be a pain!

Are there any areas in NZ where limescale is a problem?

No one has answered this question yet, so thought I would bump it.

I guess the questoin may depend on how and where you get your water supply as there are a lot more houses (percentage wise) that are not on the mains.

I would assume that if the house is supplied by a bore hole then it is possible that the water is hard? Otherwise it is much less likely, as far as I know most main water is supplied by reserviors.

Maybe the question could be reversed so that forum members can answer for the region that they live in i.e. is limescale a problem where you live?

For the Wellington region (on mains water), the answer would be a NO, there is no limescale at all (our kettle is still spotless after more than a year).

Well, growing up in Auckland I don't remember this ever being a problem....I know my parents had that problem in London when they lived there but not in Auck. I don't remember it being a problem when we lived in Hamilton either.
