Hi there,
Has anyone of you found a good GP in the West/Central Auckland? I've tried 2 different health centres, but I am not particularly impressed:
1) in Pt Chevalier the doctors seem to be the usual "sick leave" doctors that can print out the certificate, but other than that, I don't feel that I'm getting a good advice (and I get the impression that they have just been sitting in their offices for some 20 years and haven't been really updating themselves). Most doctors are older pakeha men (can make you feel intimidated!!). The single female doctor they have is leaving and doesn't take new patients. They charge $57 for a 20 minute visit!!!
2) I thought White Cross in New Lynn was ok (went there straight after Pt Chev centre), but it is A&E, so they don't keep the patient records there. They charge $54.
I guess, I'm a patient from hell, because I have a recurring non life threatening condition (mild form of alergy? A virus? started in NZ!) that none of these doctors can identify. I wish I would find a female doctor that could communicate well and just explain me the options. I believe my problem with the GPs here is actually lack of good communication. They just don't explain you things.
