Hiya

Apparently today is the top day for people in the UK to think about moving abroad - so says some Yell.com info today.

What do people think - is there's a certain time of year when you started to think about moving?

I used to think about moving away from London every year in November. I started applying for jobs all over the place, and twice it was May by the time I got round to the interview and I couldn't even remember why I wanted to leave in the first place :)

So no, I guess I think May is quite beautiful here and the month I least think about getting away. But then my winter depression usually starts on the 22nd of June when the days get shorter, so ask me again then...

May surprises me too. November, December, January and February are the times I most want to get away.

LOL - I'm exactly the same! I was sitting here tonight and noticed it was still quite light at 10 past nine, and had a sudden surge of sadness that in less than a month the nights would be getting shorter again!

God, I think about moving all the time!! I just think about it more during those dreary grey days that we have in the UK all the time!! Our worst month is February, I think that is why we are planning our next NZ for Feb 08!!:clap My thoughts have not diminished either especially after this latest dreary bank holiday weekend!!:laugh

Cheers

August the 19th 1999 was the day I wanted to go abroad having just returned from travelling downunder, china and parts of asia for two years. I knew then I wanted to go, and jan 08 it happens, taken a long time to make it happen though, still a degree takes a bit of time to get especially when you haven't done your A levels before leaving to travel. :)

We've moved house twice in May (in the UK) and again when we moved to NZ it was May. However, it was only May for NZ because it took from July 06 to the end of April 07 to be granted PR.

I think May is probably the most popular month because people think about moving in November/December but don't do anything about it as it Xmas, in January they're settling back into work and then when they think seriously about it, it's Easter so that's when they put their house on the market and the whole process probably takes 2-3 months to complete - by this time it's May.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your feedback! It's been really interesting to read your thoughts :)

Especially pink piggy:

Maybe May is when people get onto taking some action after winter, as Yell worked it out by looking at searches for words like consulate and visa which peaked in May - more details here if you're interested http://www.yellgroup.com/english/media-pressreleases-2007-allabroadmayistopmonthforanewlifeoverseas

Thanks for your time it's been great to read!
