Hi everyone,
I thought I should introduce myself on this excellent forum, after anonymously snooping for some time now.
My name is as you might of gussed James and I'm a mechanic currently living in Mid Sussex in the UK. My wife is Lucy who is a retail manager for a large store in Brighton. We're both in our early thirties with no children.
We submitted our EOI on 23/4/07 (140 points, absolute skills shortage occupation, no job offer) selcted on 26/4/07.
We have made several trips to NZ and fell in love with Napier in Hawke's Bay, (east cost north island, halfway down) so much so that on our last (third) visit in January we bought a house there. (mortgage from National Bank, based on current UK wages/payslips, with approx 30% deposit, all very easy!)
We now just want to get there as quickly as possible hopfully by the end of our summer, however, as thats now in the hands on NZ.gov its just a waiting game.
We have compiled quite a wealth of information about Napier, so if anyone has any questions, just ask.

Welcome to our world my good friend. Well grass definately wasn't growing under your feet on your visits was it. Am sure you'll feel very settled that side of the island, and good luck with the rest of the process which is coming your way.

HI James
We visited Napier on our recce and really liked it. We hadn't considered it as a permanent base so hadnt researched it the way we had Wellington and Christchurch. It remains a close second choice for us so any info on IT type jobs in that area would be most welcome.
Good luck with your move.

Hi Andy,
I don't know that much abount IT, however I know there are such jobs in Napier. Adecco in Naiper deal with IT recruitment Tel: +64 6 974 620
The best person to speak to is a guy called Ron Massey in Naiper City Council, he is the economic development manager. In english it is his job to help people relocate to Napier, he is a really nice guy. Email him your CV or give him a ring and just have a chat, as its far to windy in Wellington.
Tel: +64 6 834 4193 email: ron@napier.govt.nz
Good luck
James
