Has anyone had this happen to them? Ever since we decided to make the move our 20 year old daughter has shown a great interest in NZ. Now we have the ITA (where we said she wouldn't be coming with us) she still likes the idea and has even checked out the process herself. She's a final year student midwife - no job problem there then - and although she doesn't live with us, she is 'substantially' dependent on us (according to the bank account anyway). There's a space on the ITA for amendments to the EOI so we could add her info and she wouldn't have to go through the whole process herself from scratch. She won't finish her course until March but we hope to be gone by then and also, technically, she would no longer be dependent on us although she obviously would still be under 23. Am I right in saying she doesn't have to travel with us as long as she gets there within the 12 months? Would it confuse the issue with our application if we suddenly added her? I know they're desperate for midwives over there and I don't think it would be a problem but I'm willing to hear if anyone else found themselves in this position. It would also mean We get a chance to recoup some of our investment over the past few years!!

Add her!! My daughter changed her mind, too, and I added her to the ITA with no questions asked. I just needed to then supply info with the ITA to prove she depends on us financially (bank records, tuition bills sent to our addy, credit card bills showing I booked her flights home on breaks, etc).
Additionally, she won't graduate college until December, yet we are leaving in September....that's OK as long as she is there within 12 months like you said. She won't be "independent" until she has established herself in the working community, which would take some time (how many college grads instantly make enough to support themselves?? I think NZIS understands this!).
Sounds like with her career field, she'd be an asset to your application. Go for it!
(And if she changes her mind again, that's OK, too. At least she'll be on there "just in case.")

Leachio, that's so sad. it's the first time I've cracked over this. Tears in abundance. I'll get going on the ITA asap. I hope your prayers are answered soon.

Sorry Lockstock didnt mean to upset you. Good luck and do let me know how it goes as my daughter does have a mention on our ITA so I hope that will help when/if she comes over.
Amanda :)
