We fly on 10th August, destination currently Christchurch but Nelson is still on the radar. 3 night stopover in Singapore for a bit of R&R and then arrive Christchurch 15th. Thermals will be packed!

Just need a bit of organisation in our lives now, only have 2 spare weekends before we go - things to do, people to see!

Booking those flights really does make what you're doing feel real doesn't it? Nothing like booking one way tickets to the other side of the world to make reality hit home!

We booked our flights just over a week ago and leave a couple of weeks after you. We're also heading to Christchurch so I'll be keeping a close eye on you and your travels ;)

Congratulations on getting to this point in the process and enjoy the last few weeks here. It's amazing how quickly those last few weekends do get booked up!!

You'll be stepping off that plane before you know it! :nice1

What have you done regarding shipping?

And whats the plan for when you arrive? or is it a free and easy life for a few months?!

Had 3 quotes for shipping and will probably go with Whites based on my gut feel. Didn't like the hard sell of Crown - very smarmy sales pitch which is an instant turn off for me!

Are we supposed to have a plan? Perhaps that's where we're going wrong! Our plan actually changes from one day to the next depending whether I'm feeling positive or negative about Christchurch during the day. Paul gets home from work each day and asks if it's a Nelson or Christchurch day. One agency has been in contact with Paul with some potential job leads in Christchurch but we are also still waiting for some business info to come through snail mail from a business agent in Nelson so the jury is still definitely out at the moment. At some stage soon we will have to make a decision so watch this space!

Be right behind you guys :raebanana

Not booking flights till we pass the medicals to be on the safe side, but they are on Tuesday the 5th June so hopefully our preferred date of 21st Aug will be a goer :clap

Sandra, Paul that's fantastic news. I'd definitely have those thermals ready though it does get chilly on a night.

I know what you mean about not having a plan. While Sam and I are actively looking for a job (i have an interview later today) we are only going for ones that we like the sound of and not just applying for jobs willy nilly.

Having said that, we are coming to the conclusion that as we have travelled halfway around the world we will look at the possibility of maybe buying a small business. We've come here for the lifestyle so before jumping in and joining the rat race again we're exploring all possibilities.

By the way, we chose Whites. We had used them before and they were far and away the best quote we got. Our belongings haven't arrived yet but the packing up in Dunfermline went really well and they seem to have labelled the boxes very well and not just put 'odds and ends' they have made a real effort to say what is in each. Hopefully much eaiser for MAF this end when the ship eventually arrives.

Take care and keep us updated.

So excited for you. It must be nice to come without being tied into a job like I was (although they did pay my flights etc, so I should just be grateful and shut up!) and it leaves you free to choose where to settle. If I could just choose anywhere, I reckon it'd be Nelson.

Good choice. Nelson is a pretty good place to be. Great weather too.
