Well only 8days til i go to NZ :clap , Nervous? Very!

Anyway, i now am out of work as left my jon etc, have no car now and live 2miles from nearest bus stop. Hence my last week in Blighty is going to involve not a great deal other than packing and sitting on the internet ;)

SO, i was considering reversing my times early, IE switching my timeclock to NZ from this weekend, and sleeping during day and up all night in an attempt to help allievate jetlag and time differnec in advance.

Simnply, will this work, is it worth it?

Ummm.... not sure, the whole process just takes it out of you anyway. In effect you will be flying in what will be the night to you anyway, and it will be a disturbed sleep on the plane, meals, drinks, films etc.

Up to you really, but all I can do is wish you luck for your last week. Enjoy it if you can, and just enjoy the ride over the next few months.....

Good luck and safe travel

when my daughter travelled via LA she arrived and was rearing to go out. I thought they would have jet lag but they did not. It all depends which way round you travel and what times. they did go to bed at 8pm though:laugh

It was when they travelled back to the Uk that upset them the most.

I have heard via someone who works for the airlines that as soon as possible take your shoes off and socks and walk around on grass/ground and get the static out of your body. Once seen on movie with Bruce Willis in die hard who did the whole film barfoot as a result.

sleep when yu are tired and watch films when you are not, foget what day it is up there. Say awake as long as possible when you arrive and get out into daylight too, suppose to help. If its nighttime arrival go to bed.

Personally Lee i don't think anybody has the surefast answer as we all deal with it in many different ways. One way that may help you, and once again its down to the individual is to have a 14hr stopover whether that be at Changi, Lax, or whichever way you come, but with that said if you come through Lax it might not work, but this is how we managed to beat it.

We came via Changi, and booked in for the 14hr stopover. Within 2 hours of landing we hit the sack, bearing in mind that when you land at 7:00am its 23:00 in UK, so you are ready for bed anyway..yes? We slept for 5.5hrs, then took a freebie tour of Singapore. Dropped back to hotel for another hour kip, and then hit the airport at around 6 for a few hours window shopping ready for the next leg at 21:00. Now whilst on the plane, we got our noggings down for a few hours, and arrived fresh in Auckland. The first night we manged to stay up til 22:30, and awoke at 06:30. We didn't suffer at all with jetlag by doing it this way, but as i say its all down to the individual concerned.

Good luck with the last week, and whichever way you do it, you'll arrive quite fresh as the adrenalin is doing its job.

Hi Lee. Maybe you could do this as a lab test for us all and let us know. Hope you have a safe journey. Keep us other Sparkies informed. Did you get those tools cleaned and polished? Was looking at Paul's rusty tools in the shed (no jokes please) and told him they may as well be skipped as I'm sure they wouldn't pass MAF. I'm certainly not cleaning em!

Rust will be fine, just make sure there's nothing organic on them. My advice to Paul, bring EVERYTHING you can (if you have the room). You will be suprised how much it costs to replace stuff, thats if you can find it to buy in the first place.. :)

Thanks John. Will do. How do you go about whilst waiting for them to be shipped out? Now work for 8 weeks? Maybe some companies have some to borrow? Don't expect so!

Sitting here tomorrow sorting my tools out as i have been still using them until today (quit work today, so unemployed bum now!)

Regards stopover, i am in Hong Kong for 3days (well 2nts) and then onto Auckland from there. Its what i would have choose anyhow, but it was out my hands anyhow as travelling in a Bunac Group.

Should also add it wasnt so much the actual jetlag from tiring flights etc that i was trying to beat as either way i cant sleep on planes and it will tire me whatever. Just wondered if can try convince the body to 12hr shift a*little before i get there, think i will do as above and just sleep if genuinely feel the need, else otherwise i will delibrately stay up late as can etc..

Not like i got to get up for work now!!! :cheers

I read a recent medial report that viagra might alleviate jetlag.

Failing that you could always join the mile high club ;)

I reckon if you try it in stages, maybe an hour/two hours each day it will begin the process for you, hey, its worth a shot if you have nothing better to do :laugh
