Greetings everyone, we've learned so much from these forums thank you all. We've weighed the prices, ups and downs of moving our stuff from the US to Auckland, and really do believe it will be a better deal just to ship rather than sell everything and rebuy it all. We don't even have a ton of stuff, but it seems that furniture and household goods are not cheap commodities as they are in the US (Auckland needs IKEA, by the way...) and used furniture is almost worthless here. Also, storage in the San Francisco area is really expensive! If anyone there feels to the contrary on any point, I'd love to hear about it - we're trying to keep our options open but time is going by quickly.

So, we estimate we need half of a 20' container. Would anyone be interested in sharing with us? We'd have to pack the container the first week of July 2007, but could be flexible depending on what the shipping company will allow. There will be some close coordination required on both ends. The good news is it's an almost-direct route from the Oakland, CA to Auckland so it will be rather quick transport. If interested please reply to me directly jhuebert at gmail dot com by June 15th.
