Hi there all,
I have been offered a job (Medical Doctor) in Auckland. I should be getting a work permit initially. How soon can I apply for a skilled migrant programme and then for a PR? Oh and once I get the work permit, will my wife be able to work with her dependent visa? Any help/thoughts will be much appreciated :)

I'm not sure about your wife working on a dependent visa. BUT
you can apply for PR pretty much straight away when you arrive. Get your police certificate for you and your wife immediately and start collecting evidence for your PR application.

I arrived on a WP and put my PR application in 4 days later. Got it a month later.

your wife will be able to get a work permit under the family stream even if she doesnt have a job offer.

You should submit a separate app for your wife and she gets an open work permit based on your work visa. Once in NZ put in the application for PR and you are set. Good luck

yes, good luck to you. We are doing exactly the same thing at the moment and are hoping to have our visas in about a months time. So if all goes to plan we should be in NZ by September....see you there:cheers
