Does somebody work as a Mac Operator, Desktop Publisher, Graphic designer in Auckalnd or could help me find a Job?
I'm having a hard time getting the employers to even read my CV, beacuse I'm still in Switzerland at the point. It would help me A LOT, having a job offer BEFORE moving to Auckland! Does any one else find it so hard finding a job, awell?:uhoh

I decided to give it a go the other day and got a reply 4 minutes after sending it. That shocked me to the core!

I think the clincher was the two hours I spent personalizing my covering letter which if written by hand would have stretched a good A4 sheet. I normally do a quick edit of a standard cover letter I've written up. I kept it formal but loosened my tie and showed as much enthusiasm as possible.

He's got in touch with me, fiddled with my work and seems interested. Which even if I don't get offered a job has boosted my confidence by a gargantuan amount.

Keep trying, there seems to be a lot of them on Seek at the moment with new ones popping up daily.

As part of my role here in the UK I support 2 Mac Studios for a group of companies working under International Greeting PLC. We make nearly all your Christmas wrapping paper, birthday paper, gift bags, tags, Christmas crackers, valentines day cards. If it's sold in Tesco, Asda, Woolworths, Boots, Ikea, Primark, M&S, Birthdays, Clinton Cards etc, chances are i've seen it. (which gets depressing when you look at something and go "ooh, that's ZE132.20" when in actual fact it's a 3metre xmas roll wrap with a picture of santa feeding Rudolf next to a fireplace!!!!)

I think some people have found it very easy, though. From what I can gather, all IT/computer skills are needed, but it's a combo of how desperate they are for certain specialized skills, whether you find the right company right when they're desperate, and whether they need the position filled so badly that they are willing to take on the extra work involved in the process for a non-present non-resident. I don't have any direct advise for Mac jobs, but my general advise is to not get discouraged, it's not personal, and to keep trying. Have you tried contacting recruiters? We have found that an initial phone call can go a long way to build a rapport with them, and then you can email from there. Good luck with everything, I know it can be hard!

Your CV will have to say it all. Do you have your own graphics on it. Many Cv I have seen have their work on it in PDF form. Its a visual field there for attach word CV and PDF graphics CV. They want to know what work you have done in the past how many years. any reference letters from gratful companies you work with. List all your techincal knowledge and job titles and technical job role exp in amatrix at the front. Some graphics people tend to use more colour and desing on their CV too.

Any advertising campaigns. the companys name that agents will recognise over here will help.

Ascent recruitment in Auckland nice bunnch deal in purely your stuff, they replied to me with very little graphic exp.

You need to give a date when you will be coming over (even if you do not have one) and where you are with regards to immigration process. Make it sound like you have sold your house and ready to come here.

Keep at it it takes time to get a job here I should know I am on my 3rd and its painful and I am here.

good luck

That was the first recommendation I was given by itmaniacs.co.nz.
