NZ is a great country, We've been here twice over a 15 year period.
I believe in the 90 's was actually easier to live and more relax.
We now decided to leave for two reasons
1. housing costs is just to high
2. the labour market: salary, lack of benefits and lack of stability and limited options for progression.
We could not and did not want to take the risk of getting into an already expensive market. We probably missed this opportunity to reenter the housing market and we could not see a solution.:exit
Job wise, we feel that the salaries ( we are both professionals) are not :raebanana adequate for the current cost of living. Also we are concerned that there are no benefits and the ability of saving is very very limited. Last but the most important, was the fact that every 2-3-4 years we have on average to look for new jobs. Although we believe that we are meant to be an asset to any business we are treated like a cost and when it gets to high we are replaced by cheaper alternatives. As specialist professional it is not that easy to enter in a job straight away and always have to be with a pay cut. Just not fair we believe.
Overall we like it here but could not make any progress as employees. Said:p :wah
