I know this question makes me look abit of a 'saddo' but any info would be greatly received.

Are Dyson vacuum cleaners (or similar makes) readily available in NZ. I know that 'cylinder' models are the norm but quite frankly I find them damn awkward to use. Housework is bad enough without having to struggle with the damn cleaner.

Will buy a new one over here, take it out of it's wrapping and ship it over with the rest of our stuff if necessary.

Now then - where's that duster ...........

Hi there

Do you already have a Dyson?

We have one and were advised these were the best type to take by our shipping company. All we did was buy new filters www.dyson.co.uk We then took it to pieces power washed it and disinfected it.

I hope it makes it through OK. Will let you know.

We did the same and its here and it works. Customs wanted to look at it but were satisfied that it had been cleaned so we didn't have a problem.

Yes Dysons are available here - we bought one a few years back. Sadly it broke the other day.

I'll refrain from making the obvious 'Dyson sucks' cracks... oh, dear, too late!

I'd be interested to find out if any upright vacuum cleaners are sold in NZ. We're starting to think we'll have to bribe the Australian relatives into dragging one over when they come to visit. I've only located cannister type vacuums in NZ, not uprights. :no

Sorry yours is broke, Doug. Is it something easily repaired?

All the best, Rae

Glad I found this thread, we have a Kirby that I don't want to leave behind but hadn't thought about cleaning it for the shipping.

Would have got caught out there!!

Cheers,

Mark. :D

Thanks for that folks - a big help.

I don't want a cyclinder type either .... housework is bad enough without having to drag one of them around.

$800 for a Dyson - that's steep. All depends on the model though I guess. We have a DC04 here which has been just brilliant (although on its last legs now). Looked in Curry's today and they have a special offer on the DC04 - just 144.00. So - I think I'll get one here and ship it over with the rest of my stuff.

I just can't believe I'm sitting here discussing vacuum cleaners !!!!

My Dyson :wah :wah

We left it behind it was very old and on it's last legs, but I was shocked at the price of a new one.
