Hi
Been living over here in NZ for past 6 weeks and have applied for PR.
Awaiting our paperwork for ITA, and know we have to apply for police certificates.
IS there a particular form i have to send to the Police in UK, as trying to start ball rolling whilst await paperwork from Immigration ??
I cant seem to find one on the website ??
Help appreciated

Hi Sharon
You need to obtain a clearance certificate that indicates the police national computer does not hold any records of convictions for you. You can obtain a form at the Metropolitan police website -
http://www.met.police.uk/dataprotection/forms/3019b.pdf
Costs 10 pounds per person and it needs to be sent to the police headquarters for your district you lived in for the last 10 years! It can take upto 40 days to obtain and ours did take the full 40 days and is valid for 6 months.
Good luck, Neil and Co.

We didn't need fingerprints done for our UK police check but we are still in the UK at the moment so I don't know if that makes a difference.
However, we lived in Australia for more than 12mths during the last 10yrs and needed to get fingerprints done for them. Bear in mind that you need police checks for every country you lived in for more than 12mths during the last 10 years.
Good luck!

Hi Sharon - to clarify, the form you need to complete is the Data Protection form that Siolvo posted a link to. Every police force in England and Wales uses this form, and then they are sent to London to be processed. It doesn't matter which force you apply through either, it doesn't have to be the one where you were last resident. (I applied through Essex, and I've never even been there!)
You don't need fingerprints taken for a UK police check, but do for some other countries (Australia and Belize both required me to have fingerprints taken and sent off to match against their database.)
Hope this helps.
