We're staying with NZ relatives in Christchurch when we head off for, would you believe it, Reccy Trip No 3, tomorrow (OMG - haven't packed yet!!!!). We always like to take something from the UK for them, but when we ask if they want anything in particular they're never forthcoming!

Can anyone suggest something we could buy that:

is about £20 to £30 cost
we can import in NZ legally
you can't get in NZ, or can't get it easily

I've got, er, tomorrow morning to get it - nothing like forward planning! Weight isn't an issue.

Many thanks in advance.

Just a few thoughts off the top of my head, not necessarily good ones...:o

Tupperware
canned chiles
flannel sheets
electric blanket
cookware (pot and pans)

I know some of it is available in NZ, but it's all useful and prob cheaper in the UK. Have a great trip!

As it is coming into winter, how about some fire wood? You're £ sterling goes much further than the $ NZD does... :D

To say thank you to a UK friend I put together a NZ gift hamper and she loved it!
(see here: www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=9751 )

Perhaps you could do a UK equivalent? UK Cadburys, UK Beer etc etc

(Its probably best to pack in the suitcase in case the sniffer dogs like the smell of it! :laugh )

Alternatively if you're running really late and flying from Heathrow there is a UK tourist gift shop after security.

Or Molton Brown .....

Happy Shopping!

Cheers

I was going to suggest some Molton Brown stuff, too, but Tia beat me to it!

I have Molton Brown soap and handcream in my bathroom, and my Kiwi boyfriend loves it, though he's far too manly to admit to it. Actually, I don't think he's too fussed about the handcream, but he does like the liquid soap (he'll kill me for saying that!), and said once that we should take some over with us for his folks.

Many thanks everyone. I'll take a look at Molton Brown! And some Beer of course!

Electric blankets sound good too, though it would imply their house is cold!
