I am considering buying a car in advance of arriving in NZ, to avoid wasting money on a rental.

Does anyone have any experience with any of the mobile car inspection companies that will travel to the dealer and do a mechanical inspection?

One dealer that I am in contact with actually recommended it, and said that some will even do a compression check.

Any experiences, thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hiya swank,

We bought a car a little while after arriving and chose to have it inspected by the AA. We just called them to arrange an appointment and an inspector showed up at the dealership at the said date, did checks on the car for about 45 mins to 1hr, and everything turned out fine :)

I wouldn't know how different it would be if you were out of the country though but in NZ I thought it was very straightforward :yes

All the best,

Jen
