OK long story short I am in the running for a job with Brother International in Wellington as a transfer from Brother in Ireland.:clap
My EOI points are well above whats needed so i am digging around for the next step(dont worry i use the search option;) )

They are very interested in me and requested all my information with CV and it looks a good option.

After talking at length with my wife we have decided on moving to NZ.

Has anybody made the move recently from Ireland?

In terms of choosing a living area can anybody recommend a decent area to look for. We will have about 150keuro to bring so will be renting for a short while and then buying and will have a 20% deposit ready to go.

OK the big question at the moment is from my Wife, (Jodi)
she is concerned at being on her own, is there a community of ex pats?
Do companies make families welcome?
Are there many aspects from a kiddies group meetings with other mums?

My next move is to see if i am offered a position and if so a weeks visit will be planed. from there i can see if the company will cover relocation costs etc.. and see how much they will pay me of course:D

Thanks for now

Darren

Well heres to a good choice and updates a plenty,

We haven't welcomed you to the forum yet, so welcome:)

You will find lots of info on here with regard to ex-pats etc if that is what your OH is worried about; just use the search as you said and you should be able to find it.....

This should give you an idea of the things that can happen at short notice...

Hope this helps and good luck with your job.....

hi!
myself (kiwi) and my boyfriend (limerick native) moved to wellington just before christmas last year. i had been living in ireland for three years..my family still live there.
we're living in miramar which is near the airport. its a really nice area and its flat!! :D a rarity in wellington i think!! kilbirnie and hataitai are nice too. again, kilbirnie is fairly flat with hills surrounding it,like miramar. its hard to explain really! i go to college in newtown which is a 20min drive max in rush hour traffic through kilbirnie. there's a 70km/45 miles ish p/h road round the bay into town and it takes max half an hour in the mornings.
i like it out here (i think its considered eastern wellington?).
we've no time to get involved in the irish expat community here but be sure there are loads of us here! my boss at my casual job is from limerick herself, another duty manager is from tipp,my boyfriend has a good few irish going into his work as he works near the WETA studios (one was even from the wee village where his family live in co.clare). there's an irish society in town and in lower hutt which seems fairly active, from the limited involvement we've had with them. so yes, there is an expat community but the locals are welcoming of the irish for sure.

anyway, ive kept you long enough. good luck! :)

Welome to the forum!!
