Absolutely NOTHING. Agents say it is as dead as a dodo at the moment and they are not even getting punters through the door. Must be a southern thing! Begining to wish we had had more dialogue with our offerers, but maybe they will come back when their chain is resolved.

Hi all,

My Fox is home!!!!!!! Picked him up today, they have tried a none surgical procedure to see if it works, he has had an epidural, pumping lots of things into spine and leg, in the hope that it will numb it, reduce nerve swelling, and provide him with some relief to have physio. He is still in pain, but nothing like he was. They have said the relief could last 1 week or 1 year, they just don't know. He is going back to hospital in 3 weeks, and if no improvement, they will operate, so fingers crossed he will be ok.

After chatting to the surgeon, he said the % chance of the condition reoccuring was exactly the same with this procedure as surgery....BUT the risks of surgery we're as expected...horrific, involving loss of movement in legs, use of bladder etc...

So its just w waiting game, we could be leaving the country in 12 and we might not...and if we do ill be dragging all the cases!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fingers crossed pleeaassee xxxxxx we'll see how he goes tonight-I have had to make a downstairs bedroom in 2nd lounge as he cant go up stairs.

Hi everyone. Just got back from London. Went Friday and handed in ITA. Feels real now and it was great to get rid of the big pile of paperwork, at last! It wasn't so cool paying the fee though :wah
Couldn't believe how busy London was. Hadn't been for quite a few years. Fun city but would not like to live there. Boys enjoyed seeing all the sites from the open top bus etc. Got back and letter from agents confirming house sale...just wish I could fall out of love with my home, but it it still home. If only I could see the exact house we would be going to etc.
Jade - have been thinking about you and G. Glad to hear he's home. I am sending healthy recovery vibes to you X

Glad you enjoyed your day in London:)

We went away for a couple of days (Beamish museum nr Newcastle then up to Edinburgh) whilst away the agents called with a viewer - typical! we arranged it for the evening we got back and had just left Edinburgh at lunchtime in order to get back for viewer at 6pm when we got a call to say they'd have to rearrange  so its now next thursday evening. But methinks, if they can wait a week they aren't really very keen or serious in first place. oh well.

I HATE this waiting game.

Keep your chin up Vixxann...you never know, it could have been something genuine, but I do know its a pain!

natalie, thanks for positive vibes, congrats on getting all of your paperwork in, thats a real milestone in the whole process, glad your kids had a nice time in London! I know what you mean about loving your house, we feel exactly the same, its the uncertainty of not knowing what your going to live in next...but just think, next year you could be loking out of your bedroom window in NZ accross beautiful countryside, saying to your hubby, 'I can't believe I thought I had such a wonderful house in the UK when this was waiting around the corner'....

You wont believe it ( because I don't), but I am going to look at 2 houses in the UK today, in case hubby doesn't recover in time/completely...just want to be prepared, BUT I am hoping it doesnt come to this, he has woken up today and a little better than yesterday, so fingers crossed.

Think our families are up and down with us, they are all against us going now, and think we wouldbe daft, as 'Grahams back could go at any time', and you'll have no family out there to help you...

Positive house vibes to all

How odd to be house hunting Jade. I do hope you won't need to stay, but would you be looking to rent or buy?

Natalie - glad to hear it is all happening for you!

Vixxann - I HATE the waiting game too and we have had no viewings at all since the last one. They are the ones that made an offer and I am beginning to think we should have accepted it but M says what would be the point when they are not in a position to buy, and so we have to hope that when their sale goes through they will come back to us.

Reading the other thread going about house sales someone mentioned that it is better not to tell potential buyers you are emigrating. What do you all think? Our estate agent has put it in the details so there is no way to keep it quiet. We have told all viewers that we don't have a set time frame (so no-one thinks they can get away with cheeky offers!).

Viewer we had about 6 weeks ago was in a hurry to buy and bought our neighbours (due to larger garden). The neighbour was all set to move next week and we have just heard it has all fallen through as the chain broke. What we would be doing if they had bought ours? M would have given in his notice at work, we would have our container & ticket booked and would just have to go - with no money. Has that happened to anyone?

Thanks all for good house selling vibes - and passing them on!

Hey B,

Back from viewing, and can I just say that if all your houses are tidy ish, I wouldnt bother going to any extra effort if I were you, having just seen a property up for sale. Cracked windows, holes in windows, with cardboard stuck in, wall paper ripped off the walls, half painted/half not, for £205,000...............Bargain! not.

I am looking into buying a small terraced house, whether or not we go to NZ to rent out, set up 4 viewings in central Blackpool for next week, think it would be a sensible investment especially if Graham cant go back to his manual job, it would provide a small income.

We have been looking at a house for us aswell to buy here...and renting. Renting here is about £700-00 a month, so I'd rather put money into property, as I just couldnt relax handing over my hard earned money for someone else (like me!!!!!) to make a killing.

Probably sounds like a really random post, as I am exploring all avenues, and in a couple of weeks, will choose the one we will take, but I am very keen on buying a cheap terraced house in B'pool to rent out.

j xx

Good Luck B, it will happen xxx

holland
27th August 2007, 02:38 AM
B...I would get the fact that you are emigrating taken off your details, that is what our estate agent recommended, as there are really cheeky people that will just take advantage. what we did ( after Graham has blurted it out!!)...is said that if we dont get a buyer very soon, we will be renting it, so it will be off the market...this just put us a little bit more in the driving seat, as they knew it would be unavailable to they had to get a shift on if they wanted it.

Still no guarantee that they wont try to knock us down the closer to D day we get.

I think you may be right Jade. I hate the system here. Anywhere else in the world once you have made a firm offer and signed the paper you are committed to it and that's that. At least you can make plans that way.

Sounds a very wise move to have an investment property for whatever the future may bring. It's amazing that people should show their houses in such a mess - when you think of all the efforts we go to. I sometimes think that when I'm watching Property Ladder or whatever - people haven't even bothered to put the bed clothes straight!

How is G doing now? Is it looking good? Do hope so

Hi All

Vicki - the lady who eventually bought our house waited 4 days until she viewed. I thought the same "well she can't really be bothered" etc. So uou never know. Everythings crossed for you.

Barb - I hope you get some news soon too. I agree with M, there would be no point in accepting an offer from people who weren't in a proceedable position.

With regard to telling people you are emigrating, we did but we also quickily added that we don't have a firm timescale and we would rent out the property if it hadn't sold...but I do now wonder if we may have got more if we hadn't told them????:roll

Jade - really hope G continues to improve. I think you are very sensible to look at property though. We too are looking into buying a flat in Cheltenham as an investment.

Going for a quick run now and then to the towns carnival. Weird to think that this will be the last time I see the carnival. Have been going for years. There is usually only a handful of floats and then awful dirty fair rides that cost a fortune. I don't think I will miss it but the boys think it is great. Thankfully neither of them are bothered about the rides.

Love and Luck to all.

ooo Natalie,

I feel so unhealthy sat in my PJ's at the kitchen table when you are off for a run! Especially when I demolished lots of party rings yesterday...and I don't really like them! Have fun at the carnival. Have you heard anything about the survey yet?

Going to view 2 more houses at the lower end of the market today and 2 more on Saturday, and I think having a little property here is the way to go. I went to a new housing estate yesterday, and they are selling off a 3 bed ( although the lady said 2 beds and office), mid mews house for 145,000. She said that they tend to rent out really quick as it is close to the college, main bus routes etc...the advantage of this is that when rented out, hopefully, not much can go wrong.

However, in central Blackpool, I could practically buy 2 terraced houses or this price, the ones I am going to see next week have a new bathroom and kitchen in...so I am debating what to do for the best...any tips anyone??

To all,

I went to view a house yesterday...the first one that an estate agent has showed me around and not the vendor, this may have been an isolated event, but just thought I would share my experiences. The estate agent was pointing out all of the bad points, when I said anything slightly negative, she agreed, she said 'she wouldn't live in this house due to X,Y and Z', and then, wait for it.....she tried to sell us her house!!!!! I kid you not!

I'm sure some of you maybe have no choice, and the agents show around whilst you are at work, but I do feel after yesterday, if you can possibly do it yourself or have a family member/friend do it, maybe in the evening, you are slightly increasing your chances of selling. ( I Know John certainly won't be able to do is own viewings!!)

I really disliked having viewers, I was so uncomfortable, and mostly left it to hubby, but after yesterday I would never have an agent show potential buyers around.

I also went to see two other properties yesterday, and I know it sounds daft, but because the vendors were so lovely and friendly and answered all my questions, I felt 'more positive' about the property when we left.( I know you cant buy a house on that basis, but every little helps when selling!!!!!)

Jade - that is dreadful about that agent. One of the agencies we use insist that we go out and they show the client around as they know how to sell. Have to say the only offer we got was the couple we showed around ourselves as they were short staffed! I would be tempted to tell the sellers what their agents are doing as that is grossly unprofessional!

We have had absolutely nothing at all for weeks. No viewings, no word from the agents - in fact we have almost forgotten that we are on the market and letting standards slip a bit. If we ever get another viewing I will have to dash around with the hoover in one hand and the lawn mower in the other.

I would rather like to go out house hunting so I could check what the opposition is, but don't think I could pull it off very convincingly!

Think I may just have to join the biscuit dipping club after all.:)

Hi,

Our estate agents around here made you sign to say you would only use them!! Cheeky monkeys! Well, I really fell in love with a terraced house in the centre of Blackpool, once you closed the fron door it was beautiful, huge lounge/diner, gorgeous kitchen, 2 beds and a jacuzzi corner bath/shower etc. I went for a second viewing today, and I still really like it, but it has no back yard as the house has been extended and the 2nd bedroom is a funny shape and theyve made a bed!!! upon closer inspection it is because a standard on wouldnt fit in! I am mad, because I still really like it, but my head is ruling over my heart, and I think it will limit my rental market so its a no no.

Gray getting better each day, he is now going up the stairs slowly!! Still bad at night, but hopefully he will improve, he is confident we will be going to NZ....hope so!!
