HIyah Peeps,

has anyone found that the estimated volume for their removals was more than what was actually needed on the day? Or less?

I'm just curious cos I think we've been over-estimated (as there is a lot we aren't talking and a lot of the clutter in the house is empty boxes for the electrical stuff, which we saved for just this occassion). I did tell the people who came to quote what was going/not going etc but they still seemed to estimate it higher than I imagined...

... or is it that there really is a lot and I can't face it!!!!!!!!!!!!! :eek

You could try getting a few quotes and see how they compare.

I was given an estimate of 3 cubic metres and it was actually 2.55 - I could have sent more

We have a 20ft container to fill. The local Crown Relocations guy did a survey and told us we were 40% over. Another company estimated that we were 15% over...quite a difference

We cut out a bunch of stuff and ask the Crown guy to re-survey. He said it would just fit in a 20ft container. They are due to do the packing at the end of September. Will know then how good the estimate is.

Peter, whats the biggest stuff you're taking with you?
I'm planning on two settees, dining table (not chairs) and 2 (dis-assembled) double beds. A couple of biggish corner cupboards, TV & 4 Pushbikes I spose are pretty big too?
After that, I think just about everything else will be boxed. I'm confidant I have plenty of room with a 20 footer (wifey naturally disagrees!)
Whaddya reckon??

I think you should be fine. We have at least that amount plus more...amazing how much stuff can be stored in the basement.

A 20 ft container is equivalent to approx 20m3

Get some removal company to give you a quote. They will do a survey of all your things to ship and will be able to give you a good idea where you are at.
