Hi All,

We're new to this site. Having read loads of the threads you all seem like a really nice and helpfull bunch of people. Our situation is as follows:

Me and my girlfriend are looking to move over to NZ next year, my parents are currently going through the process and are about to submit their EOI as my dad has an offer of employment and is on the immediate skills shortage list. I was wondering if my dad was to put me on his EOI and was granted PR would I also be granted PR. I am 27 years old at present so not sure if that is too old to be added onto his EOI. We were just trying to weigh up what the best option for us would be. I've heard a working holiday might be a better option and then try to get a job out there and apply of PR.

It all seems very complicated after reading the immigration website and some of the info not too clear. Im hoping one way or another we will be selling the house next year and moving all our stuff over there. Does anyone know if we will be ok to take our 2 cats with us on a working holiday visa? Theres so many questions to ask but we're really feeling a bit lost at the moment. I was going to fill in my own EOI initially but it seems very hard to get employers to even look at your CV without being a resident. I would need a job offer to get the points on the EOI. The other thing is also if i was to get a job before i went over I believe you have to stay with that company for 2 years - there was just a little concern that i may not like the company or may not want to keep that particular job for 2 years. Anyway guys, any info would be greatly appreciated. Keep living the deam!

Cheers

Tony:)

You can search a lot of ways - check the advanced search within the search function and have a play. Takes a while to get used to it though.
Also, look under Members list and find which member - click their button and then you can search all posts by them (or do this in yourself as well).
Good luck

HI,

Sorry I can't help with your questions either, but welcome to the forum.

As far as search for all the threads that you have typed - if you go to quick links and "MY PROFILE" there are two buttons there that you can use all the threads you have started and all the threads that you have replied to.

Good luck

Welcome! I'll try and do this from your dad's point of view. We're just filling in our ITA and now my daughter wants to be included. She's 20 and a student midwife. I think if my memory served me correctly, you can be put on as a child up until the age of 23 as long as you can be shown to be dependent or 'partially' dependent on your parents even if they don't live with you. So I would suspect that at 27 you are a bit on the past-it side for the child category. We decided to add our daughter now, as a student, to save her the hassle and the money later once she has qualified. Lots of help from the forum helped me make up my mind. :nice1

Just had a thought - get your dad over there to blaze a trail and then come in later on a family thingy. Don't have a clue what you have to do but I bet there are loads of people on here who do. Not sure about your cats - you realise that they will cost a fortune to ship over there. I know they're worth it but maybe not if you're not thinking of staying any length of time.

Do you have any skills on the shortage list?

Thanks for the info, it will save me a lot of time and money as i was going to be added onto my dads EOI. It looks like I have 2 options, either try to submit and EOI with 110 points and no job offer or go over on a working holiday and then try to either be added to my dads PR or try for a job. Unfortunately im not on the skills shortage list. I am a project manager in the telecoms industry, hopefully there will be some similar work over there. Does anyone know how the family thing works if my parents were to adopt me whilst over there?

Thanks again

Tony
