Hi Everyone
Moving out on friday. Will lose my internet then. I have now set up a webbased email address but I was wondering if anyone knows if you can either transfer your saved emails from my old ISP to my new one (bt to google) or can you save them on your computer. I have stored alot of emails from immigration and my employer in folders with bt on their email but of course I will lose it on Friday and don't want to lose the info.
My immigration has been a very long rollercoaster ride and I often have to refer back to these emails.
Would really appreciate any help
Thanks
Karen

Hi Karen,
I am not sure if all email providers are the same but we are with Yahoo and it is easy to save to your computer.
With Yahoo Mail If you go into options on main mail page, then go to archive messages and you can then download all your content or as much as you want to your computer.
Hope this helps

thanks Dave.
Hoping to be in Auckland in 2-3 weeks. We are going to North Shore. I noticed that you stay in Albany. Do you like it? I have seen some beautiful houses on trade me in Albany. My husband's job is in the CBD though so we didn't know if it would be too far to travel.

If you use outlook, you can always just copy your .pst file. I don't remember the details as I use Thunderbird now but I've done it in the past.....
Half an answer ;)

This isnt exactly what you are looking for but I had an outlook express address which had my immigration emails and a hot mail account, what I done was forward all the important emails to the hotmail account and no matter what PC you are on you will always have them, was a time consuming job but ive still got them :nice1

A third alternatie would be to open each email in turn and go 'file' 'save as' and save them in text format onto your hard drive, then you can read them anytime in word or any text editor.
A pain and time consuming, but means you can see them woithout needing an internet connection, or an email client for that matter.
Have to confess it's not what I would do - I'd use the forward everything and/or export all to .pst file, but it's an option with it's own merits.

Found it for Outlook now that I'm at work.
Tools > Options
Look under the Mail Setup tab for Data Files, then Add a new pst file. You can then copy emails to it at leisure. Once you have everything, just copy the pst file to a CD/DVD/stick and when you've got yr new PC just add it using the same method and you'll se it as a folder in Outlook.
Hope it helps.
