This is a question of how/where to get our money to NZ in such a way as to end up with the best possible exchange.

In our case, we're in rural Canada. Don't know how this compares with other points of origin (such as the UK. which seems to be the main one)...

Any advice? We're leaving in a matter of days, so any decisive tips are greatly appreciated!

I have not looked at this in any real detail, but I gather that you can buy a forward contract from the likes of HFIX which assures you a good exchange rate.
