Hi Everyone
My shipping company are here today and I am going to have to delay shipping my furniture because immigration are dragging their heels. We are susposed to here last friday and at the eleventh hour they decided to contact my new employer to clear something up. I have tried to contact my case officer but no replies. Is anyone else having a hard time? Both my husband and I have jobs to start in NZ but since getting jobs it seems to have slowed the whole process down. Took 13 days for my original job offer to come by post.
Keep phoning my consultant and checking my emails because if I get Approved in Prinicipal today then my belongings will go in the container tommorrow. Fingers crossed but i'm not hopeful.

Karen,
Sorry to hear about your situation .. but just a thought for you
You sound like you are completely committed to moving to NZ .. I mean if you have already booked the shippers then you are definitely going .. yes? Why are you delaying the shippers? They don't an approval from immigration to ship your goods ...
Hope it all sorts itself out for you quickly.

I have to say I'm a bit depressed at the moment as well. I waiting on my NZQA results, my exam results and the house has'nt sold yet.
Still it's all part of the roller coaster ride , and things always look worst at night.

Yes I waited 2 months on my NZQA results. My rollerocoaster seems very uphill at the moment.

I'm sure you must be exhausted from this whole process, but don't give up!
The best fix is to be proactive and not feel hostage to this new situation.
:yes
Give your case officer a call; don't waste your time with email--ring up the office and ask about this...if your CO is not available, ask the secretary to let you speak to the supervisor. Be nice, patient, and explain calmly. They may not know what problems this delay is causing you, and your results are probably lying right on the desk and no one has had a thought to ring you up about it yet. It's probably very simple.
So, pick up the phone! Pack that container! Get your belongings to NZ! :raebanana Everything seems more drastic when you are out of the loop of information. Let us know what you find out! Good luck! :clap :)

Like a previous poster said....ship the stuff anyway. It'll take quite a while to get to NZ and you can live without furniture for a little while. Just get a couple of blow up beds and leave them behind when you leave.

I feel for you Karen! I am also feeling pretty dejected these days, as the last major thing holding us back is our home sale. (hardly a nibble) I can only say that things always turn around, and then hopefully you are left wondering what you were worried about all that time!:nice1

AS they say in our soon to be new land "ah she'll be right" I'd get your stuff packed up and on it's way, it can take up to 8 weeks to get there and I'll warrant you'll be there way before it is :raebanana

Thanks everyone
Another day awaits us. I have been told by my consultant that my case has been passed to my case officers boss for approval. Should hear back within a week. But i've been told that before. We decided not to ship our stuff but storing it at the shippers awaiting the call to load the container. I was afraid to send it incase we don't get PR then have to get it back. I keep thinking surely we must get PR, we both have jobs in NZ and 180 points but this whole process has made me feel nothing would surprise me.
If I do hear anything be sure I will post a thread. Please keep your crossed and everything else crossed for me.

think you are right not to ship it until sure whats going on, although some people have experienced it taking 8 weeks we have on several occasions been just over the 4 weeks. (we ship stuff out for the ski shop each year).

This sounds like their standard procedure .. all cases are double checked by another case officer just before they are approved. I'd say you are on the home stretch .. chin up :yes
The reason I suggested you might want to ship your stuff anyway is that you sounded 100% committed to the move. When I felt that way I decided that even if there was a hold-up with PR we could at least expect to get a Work Permit at short notice and so the key thing was .. there was nothing that would prevent us from moving to NZ, only possible obstacles to overcome. You have to make your own decision based on how you would react to not-so-good news on the PR front.

I think we are just scared that they are going to refuse our PR. It doesn't bother me waiting another week or more for my furniture as we are going to stay with my brother and sister in-law in Auckland. What bothers me is that I have sold my house and if I don't get PR then we will be house hunting here. Trying not to think of that!!!!!!!

Sorry Karen, but I'm a bit confused here.......not hard for me..:roll
If you don't get PR (and there is no reason that I can see why you shouldn't) why will it mean that you will be house hunting in the UK ?
From what I can gather, you have jobs to come to here in NZ, so maybe you could finish off your PR applications once you arrive here, should you need to that is.
Just a thought that's all.
Try not to worry - everything will turn out fine I'm sure.

I love this site everyone cheers you up. THANKS. I have asked my consultant about a work permit but he says that it will just confuse the issue at present. Maybe we will have to wait to see what immigration say first. We are very much set on staying in NZ it would just be so nice to get PR. Anyway sorry for depressing everyone.

Hi Karen
Just go for it and send your container. We made a leap of faith in September 2007 and sold up, coming over with no jobs and 3 children. We have never looked back - you will not regret it. A word of caution however, our goods were shipped at the end of August and arrived in December due to shipping delays... Still it all arrived safely - eventually!
Good luck
Andrea
