Hi

Does anyone have any info about either Rangiora, Darfield or Oxford communities. Or links to town websites. We are hoping to make the move early next year.

How is the commuting from the above towns to Christchurch. Currently in the UK I have a 70 mile 2hrs each way commute (on a good day GNER willing). We are looking for somewhere rural but not so much commuting.

Anyone out there who has already made the move to any of these areas I would love to here from you.

not from those areas but have heard a few moans about the traffic on the main roads out of town to the north in the "rush hour", and while nz doesn't have the joys of M25 type traffic being stuck in any traffic is a pain.

I can help with this one :)

We are living just out side of Rangiora and hubby takes about 30 mins to get into CHCH, we thought about Oxford, but it is quiet a way out.

Nothing compared to what you are used to, but it would take approx 1 hr into CHCH.

The time aspect also depends on when/what time you are starting work.

Mormings busy for 7.30 starts and 9 am starts and evenings the usual 5pm finish.

Rangiora is a nice town, with everything that you could need there although it is all small shops you have to go into CHCH for the larger stores. Papanui on the outskirts on CHCH is 20 mins away and has a great shopping Mall.
