Helloooooo again everyone!:D
On the scrounge for info again - hope you guys can help....
I'm looking for a restaurant to take my OH to whilst on our next visit to NZ. She has helped and supported me through some pretty tough times recently, and I would like to show my appreciation by taking her to a lovely 'romantic' restaurant in a beautiful setting. I know I have put Auckland, but it really can be anywhere I suppose, so long as its TOP!!....:nice1
Do you have any suggestions? Money is no object (but, please bear in mind, Rockerfella I aint!):D
Your help is really appreciated:yes
Liam

My favorite is Parnell.
The night life is very busy, Parnell has lot of galleries, coffeeshops and great restaurants.

and if you're going to Parnell, you *have* to go to Antoine's. We were there a couple of weeks ago (for a treat) and it's amazing. Huge portions though. I had to leave some of my main just so I had room for the pudding and even then I still had to be rolled down the hill at the end of the night :o
I was going to post a link, but they're revamoing the website.

I'd like to suggest LAVA restaurant and bar in St. Heliers. Its on Tamaki Drive, with lovely views of waterfront and Rangitoto, and I thought the food was excellent. I took 6 friends there and we had excellent service all night, and ended up being the last to leave, as we were having a wonderful time. Although everyone elese had left, the staff never gave us any inkling that they were wanting us to leave.
Drive out along the waterfront and it sets the tone for the evening. Ask for a window table looking out at the waterview.

One of my personal faves is Te Whau over on Waiheke. Amazing views over towards Auckland and amazing food and wine. I love it.
The French Cafe is consistently rated the No 1 restaurant in Auckland, but it is expensive, and the location isn't amazing. However, the interior is gorgeous and the food and service impecable!
I am a big fan of Vinnies on Jervois Road and The Grove in the CBD. I also like Cibo in Parnell. None of these have a spectacular setting (view-wise) but the food is always fabulous.
I personally think White (at the Hilton with views over the harbour) is vastly overrated. It is large and I found it had a strained atmosphere. I do love the cocktail bar at the same location though.
Ooh, Hammerheads on Tamaki Drive is good. Seafood and a wonderful view out towards Rangitoto and back to the city. Nice when it is all lit up at night.
Erm, if I think of somewhere else I'll let you know... I'm a big fan of eating out!

I would recommend a restaurant called Agave which is in Waiku which is about 50 minutes out of Auckland city. We ate there last night and it was lovely. Nice looking restaurant with a gorgous looking fire inside. Fantastic views of the sea and the food is gorgous. Not a huge menu but what they did have was yummy.
Check it out on www.agave.co.nz

We ate at Euro last month and had a great meal with great service. A bit of hip vibe and not certainly not cheap...$200 for two people including 3 glasses of wine...but we had a fab time. We took the Ferry from Devonport....nice evening.

It might be a bit of a tourist attraction but I still really loved Orbit restaurant in the sky tower. The restaurant revolves as you eat and the views are every thing you expect and more. If you book a table there your trip up the sky tower is included. They work a 2 sitting system so for a relaxed romantic meal prehapes get the second sitting. We don't eat out much because of our young kids but this is the best food I've had in Auckland and I thought good value. You can view menus and cost on line apparently, (I've not done so).
